Read the manga before. Didn't even know there was an anime coming out. Pretty much spoiled myself since I know who did it...

THE PLOT IS SO INTENSE ! IMA GO READ THE MANGA TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS NEXT (COULDN'T WAIT)

@modsaredumb: But why cross the eyes of characters in the intro music? To me I feel that there is still more to unfold, more culprits to be introduced.

@ironey: Yea just watched ep 4. Hina's mom had red eyes then went back to normal the scene after. Looks like you're right.

@modsaredumb: I dont think they actually have red eyes. They were added in scenes for an artistic choice

I'm guessing the teacher did the kidnapping and the blonde kid did the murdering part. After all it was someone with red eyes who killed the mc's mom and the blonde kid iirc had red eyes. I really hope it's not as obvious as it seems. The Perfect Insider pulled that crap last season by having a really simple and shallow setup that everyone guess from the start, and then tried to hide it by over-complicating character dialogue until the very end just to throw people off from the obvious answer.

And I suspected the teacher the moment I saw him. Tall guy with black hair and glasses and access to children(eww even that sounds creepy) was pretty apparent. Though I'm starting to see some deja vu going on with the mc. He's saying lines as if he's heard them a million times before, the young girl he's saving has odd reactions when he says some things(probably she's noticing him breaking out from the deja vu?), and even he noticed that he's done some of this before even though he didn't.

I'm really liking this show so far but I am gonna be hugely disappointed if it goes the same route as The Perfect Insider.

I read the manga so I can't really say much. Although without that information I wouldn't have known to suspect anybody until the end of episode 3 with the same assumption as OP.

I suspect the teacher.

He seems both too dark and too nice to be a good guy. He knows all those kids and has a respectable position from where he wouldn't get suspected. Plus Satoru's mom recognized her killer in the present day b4 she was killed, but couldn't out a definitive finger on him, indicating that they have met in the past, but not long enough to be stamped into deep memory. If it was Blondy, who was Satoru's closest friend, she would have probably recognized him sooner.

To the people pointing at the red eyes coorelation, Kayo-chan's mother and father (?) also had red eyes. It seems more like an artistic portrayal than an actual eye colour.
