RIP My Account

Over the past couple years, I have slowly gained more faith in Nexon...but I just lost all of it. >.> I got banned due to a glitch, training with my friends using la mancha spear (No I was not afk). There is/was a glitch where if you used la mancha spear after a short time frame and someone new entered the map that person wouldn't see la mancha spear's animation. I was training with my friends..maybe 30 minutes. I get banned. This was the second time this had happened, so this time it was permanent. The first time I was really confused but was just like eh its 7 days no need to appeal it. Today I went to the live chat and explained hey, I have been banned for this twice, it's a glitch in your system I'm sure you can easily go test this right now, I have played this game on the same account for 10 years (on and off). Their response to me was, in short, "You have been banned for hacking twice we cannot release your account" I then pretty much said the exact same thing and explained, I'm aware I was banned, that's why I'm here..telling you what happened and why I shouldn't be. They then said this ... "I am looking at the evidence right now, you were using a full map attack and killing every monster on the map with one shot, your account will not be released as you have done this twice now"........... Really? I know Nexon isn't the best, but to just straight up lie to your customer's (computer) face like that is unbelievable to me. Also, I honestly don't hack or even looked at anything like that since like 08, but is that even a thing for a Dark Knight? I've never seen any dark knight use that.

Sorry for the rant, I just cant believe this. Hope no one else gets screwed.

Also, I'm aware complaining about it will get nothing done, I just want others to be witness to the awfulness that is Nexon customer service.

@traitor: Well there was that thing with buying surprise boxes, if you opened like 10 you got something? Maybe you can get a hair receipt or something and everytime you got like 10 styles you get a free coupon? Idk seems more realistic, nexon tend to avoid ways of physically turning nx to mesos (except those scam bags)

@jaytokyo: Even at $30 for the hair, it's a little absurd for something digitally cosmetic. Even the ugly nx from surprise boxes are more beneficial bc they can sold or used for other characters. But for hairs, the slots have to be bought to be saved and all the ones you don't save are lost into the abyss. With the coupon system, I'd be able to at least use the hair on mules or something.

Not to mention before the salon came out, I already had countless unsaved hairs/faces I tossed money on.

@traitor: Hm, I actually like the sound of that idea. Like instead of the hair switching it gives us a coupon that can be sold at least. Or you know just make it so you get the hair once during the time it's out.

How would you go about pitching your idea though?; Because If you ever do you've got my support.

@jaytokyo: There's no reason for me to be dishing out that kind of money for a money sink that I would never gain anything but sadness from. Sure, I'll get the hair/face I want eventually but what about the other 197k spent? Nothing. It will never come back and it was never beneficial, it only goes to show taking money of my pocket was easy.

Like my proposed idea in the other thread, there should be a hair coupon gach. If not, we should be able to sell our hairs back at a 50%-75% rate.

@traitor: Yoo Co-sign to the 10th power. I never could understand why they would give me the same hair 3x in a row. it's a terrible money making scheme.

@saitama, I'm saying. Lmao. I promoted that idea in a thread about a week ago. That royals should be a hair/face gacha, it's useless that players don't benefit from that type of money spent. It's ridiculous

@jaytokyo, yes. This isn't the first time. I've done several occasions which required me to spend 120k average.

It really doesn't help if the system doesn't filter out what you already have.

You have 2 choices in my eyes:
1) try and get unbanned, it'll take a while, but if you havent done anything wrong, you will get your account back.
2) Take this as a wake up call, quit maple, don't come back. The maplestory community is slowly dying, and the chance of it being revived is next to zero. Its not the fun game we nostalgically think about.

Personally, i did steps 1 and 2. The time while banned really opened my eyes to what I couldve beening doing instead of maple, and I realised it was a lot more fun than what maple actually was.

200k on royal hairs and still didn't get the one you wanted? It's cuz you didn't spend enough $$$ dawg! Now imagine if instead of getting the changed hair you got a coupon hair that was tradeable? Nexin sees us as phat cows that's for sure, boy do they like milking.

@nidoshad: They don't care, I know someone with the same situation. He has 10 years of playtime of 12+ hrs, several thousand dollars of nx spent. I mean he's had one foot through the door the whole time, he just took another step and left and went to another game instead. Again, it has been a year for him and he's in a happier place.

It's going to be a matter of time til everyone eventually leaves any way. Don't get me wrong, people still log on but there are an increasing number of afks. Those afks will eventually lead to "why bother logging on" soon enough if they don't plan on fixing it.

I'm slowly leaving inching myself towards the door as well. 200k of nx for an option of 6 hairs not getting the 1/6 of the one you want is a pretty bad investment. They should just release 20-30k nx coupons that give you all the hairs/face in the rotation already. Spending more than that amount is just absurd. I have money to spend on it doesn't mean I should, could've gone to a better cause. Even worse that it's cosmetic.

200k nx can get a guy one pretty decent hair cut, a pretty nice meal and a cheap plane ticket some where close. Apparently it wasn't enough to get that royal hair though. I think it's clear for me which direction to go

@wall: I have seen via stream, mine as well as others attacks disappear over time. Also keep in mind this wasn't recent. This was over a year ago, this was before the getting warped to GM room/messaged. It was always on my screen, but my friends couldnt see it. I have been whispered by a GM before when they assume someone is botting, but I figure if they assume someone is hacking there is just no whisper, because I sure didn't get one.

Edit 1 : @kalsta La mancha was the most viable skill to train with. I 1 shotted with it and it was the fastest attacking skill I had.

Edit 2: When I say this was a year ago, the ban was, I just now am talking to them via chat because I assumed over the past year they might have a history of fixing the la mancha glitch (which is what the GM informed me the first time i spoke with him a year ago that I was banned for, not being able to see my attack).

Also this being a year ago, it has just been my old account, a lot of history on it. I made a new char on an old account when Reboot came out so I guess it doesn't matter to me that much, I just figured what the hell, might as well give it a shot..and just got straight lied to.

Maybe ask for a manager next time you call...?
Elevate the call to someone more knowledgable (yes, they exist, even in Nexon ), and if the person doesn't just hang up on you, you may be able to get someone who can help restore your account. Its a long shot, but IT people are racked daily with (let's be frank here) idiots and liars day in and out, and are generally trained to filter out those whom aren't persistent or trip themselves up on their own lies. Patience and persistence are the virtues for surviving customer service reps.

To be honest, though, Nexon has a notorious history for not caring much about customer service, and not just in MapleStory. But yeah... screenshots or chatlogs or something "physical" would make your story somewhat more palpable. As is, no offense meant, but it sounds like every other person claiming that their account was banned/hacked/locked and they want it back - which may be true about 1/3rd of the time.

I guess don't use La Mancha so much next time...? .__.

This seems familiar in similar cases more than once, note that most the GMs do not frequent the game nor know how special perks work. Note that there are people that ruin things for everyone. Also note that that even if your account was a Beta account and mishaps that you did not correct over time will be taken against you. The system is also really biased due to the terms changing over the years a few times.

Note: They also don't care how much time or money you spent. Their response will be, "Well, you're free to create a new account and play again. Have a good one!!"
