Tablet or laptop?

I'm mainly looking for something for entertainment purposes. I already have a laptop but it simply can't handle many games at the level I'd like it to. I'm also considering a tablet since I've never had one and they seem somewhat useful/interesting. I'd mainly use it as a sub for my phone (except texting/calling obviously) and for things that I just generally hate to do on my phone(ie: reading). Also can anyone who's ever owned a tablet or currently owns one give me their opinions on them?

I used to dislike tablets, as that was when 10-inch tablets dominated the market -- and at the time, a 10 inch tablet was heavy and pretty much a crappy netbook.

Nowadays 7-inch tablets are the new 'thing', but they're much more practical than their 10-inch counterparts so it's a welcome change.

tablets are fun but they lack the interface to play PC/console games.
Otherwise they're quite comfortable to read stuff on and watch things. VERY comfortable.
But sooner or later down the road you're going to realize that you'll need a computer to do important things. It's just a matter of when.

I don't play any computer games or anything so ever since I got my tablet I use it almost exclusively instead of my laptop. The only time I ever pull my laptop out is when I have to do homework assignments or I want to draw digitally. So I guess it depends what you use your laptop for.

If you read e books frequently (like for school or whatever) then a tablet of some sort may be useful.
I have a rooted samsung galacy tab 2 7.0 and its not really that useful for my purposes. Since it has no mobile data from a data plan a phone is more useful and the battery of isnt that impressive.... (unless you get an iPad). If you want something for school get an iPad since they have great battery life and thats it.

@LuklessFlame funny enough that's one of the three tablets I'm currently looking at. I'm caught between either the nexus, galaxy s3 and the kindle fire. However, my phone is the galaxy s3 and I feel as though the tablet would be nothing more than a supersized version of my phone. The kindle looks the best to me and would go hand in hand with my amazon prime membership (once I repurchase it). However, I don't have verizon or at&t so I could only get wifi only. Then again I don't know if I'd like to pay for a data plan for my tablet anyway.

@Shipaco well the thing is I'm not even sure as to what games I would play once I got my new laptop aside from maybe Rift. I don't even play maple anymore, I enjoy this forum moreso than the game for which it was made. I'm just feeling rushed to make a decision because I want to make my purchase before my amazon prime membership expires tomorrow lol
@Ecyz well I'm always on my phone and so I figure I could use a tablet to give my phone sort of a break and conserve my battery. Also I love to read, game, surf the internet all on my phone however, because of the size it can be sort of annoying. So in my particular case would you say that laptop>tablet?

Tablets are nice, but in my opinion just not useful enough to justify using one instead of a computer. I use mine whenever I'm too lazy to move my laptop AND the stand AND the fan into another room. I can just grab the tablet and go, which is a lot more convenient. I still only use it to browse forums though.

I'd say get the laptop, I use my tablet at school to surf the internet, but that's about it. I had WAY more things to do when I upgraded my crappy laptop for a gaming one.

@Newspaper the thing is I can do most of this on my phone. Though there are some things like reading that I would prefer to do on a tablet I'm not sure if that makes it worth the money for me or not
