I just realized how this net neutrality affects me in canada
So if the ISP's in america gets their way this fall, then they'll charge our ISP's to access american sites forcing them charge us like in the states. Then our ISP's will charge america to visit Canadian sites forcing them to increase their prices, same thing is going to happen around the world. Everyone's internet bill is going to double maybe even triple, this also affects cell phone data usage.

@RichAF You've got it.
While other countries have fast, reliable, relatively inexpensive broadband, the United States is totally dedicated to profits at all costs, resulting in situations like you described. There's no reason for the poor system most of North America is saddled with, except for the profit motive.
And since the companies own the regulators, that's not likely to change any time soon. It's just going to get worse.
@SmashFace The "government" is owned by the big communications corporations. The members of the FCC are in the pockets of Comcast and AT&T (and others), and it's common for the "regulators" to be former employees of the big communications companies. Then when their time on the FCC is over, they go back and work for the big companies. It's one big happy boys's club and the US consumers pay the dues. The Commission used to protect the customers, now they work for the companies.
The USA government used smoke screen (again)
It is super effective
I do not think that this will happen. Because while the internet companies would love to make more money they know that the government will whap them with fines and other penalties if they try anything like that. Think about it, this net neutrality gives the perfect set up for some congressman to be a "hero" and take on some company to "work for the people". Corporations are going to have to watch where they tread. Plus google fiber is coming. And as long as corporations can keep their profits the way they are now they will try to under cut the other companies. More customers > Charging them more.
@Ecyz I find it more scary than sad,
I love how the American government wants to essentially own the internet
That's hilarious and sad at the same time
@Yumtoast That maybe true but this effects every site hosted in every country.

Also, Americans don't typically care/visit Canadian websites.
