Im losing the love for Maplestory

What keeps you playing? What keeps you motivated?
Why do you do it?
Do you play to have fun, or just for damage?
These questions have been floating around in my head, and I'm not really sure if I want to continue my story.

3 main issues are evident that hider this game:

1> Community: This is a no brainer that a lot of times, its players that can ruin the game. Whether its just people who you can't cooperate with because you can understand what they are saying, to obsessively arrogant guild leaders that slowly grow mad with power, or those that take out their anger on others in ways which can include KSing others, we have to be honest that one way or another we sometimes do things that anger others even when we don't mean to nor unaware of.

2> The Grind: I recall times when on the chat window Nexon would state how it is unhealthy to prolong playing the game over so many hours. Yet, it seems one of the core motivation this game tends to offer is the rush to try new classes and level them to max level. That alone could cost lots of time for us to waste; time that could be levied if Nexon would consider giving a questing system similar to how the Zero storyline was done. A great game lets the players get engaged not only on the classes but also on the storyline behind the game (which I myself discovered the truth behind Damien which should've been brought up in the game itself). Alas, this game doesn't seem to have enough elements to it to get people engaged and to get them engaged with enough time for them to spare.

3> The Stats: This is something we cannot deny and this ties with the problem with the community: if you don't got the stats, you don't get the privileged. Majority of this game's community have this mindset an we cannot ignore that fact. I remember seeing SMegas of guilds recruiting players who were of a certain level or have some sort of range, players that won't take a player to fight a boss simply put because they can't do enough damage, players that even ridicule others simply because their range is not "up to par." Unfortunately with potential system, any attempt to make this game "easy to learn, hard to master" has gone off the roof. This game could've done something different to decrease the gap of the funded and unfunded by ways even I have thought would definitely make this game fun for everyone which would make players feel relevant in a boss fight regardless of their range or class.

@samstergx I fully understand how you feel right now, cause after my past issues with this game and the community I myself asked that question. All I can advise is if you feel you can bring the fun i this game again I would wish you the best of luck, but if there is still uncertainty: try something else. Refresh your horizon trying out other games out there. Do not torture yourself entering something you know can hurt you again.

I love maplestory! I try to log on at least once a day It would make me really sad
if Maplestory died out.. I had so many memories on it and I made a lot of online friends.
Don't quit! Maybe just take a break and see how you feel~

I don't find it to be silly. I know a Phantom who hits 50m per line on arrow blaster and he spent $0.

which guild are you in?
I wish I had a buddy to duo bosses with, and most of my guild members seem distant.
@Senkujin I agree, when I log on I really don't do anything but afk now, Classes are not balanced anymore every class is too strong, and mobs go from easy or very hard, there is no in between. I have also noticed the game wants you to waste money on it to get stronger. I'm just wishing things can go back to how they were.
Paralysis. It's not well known and it's still in the process of being remade, but it's full of really nice people, including the alliance. Also, our guild leader is the friendliest person I have ever met.

I play MapleStory because of my guild and alliance.
They're my reason for continuing to play, which is why they come before me.
If you truly play the game for the people rather than for the content, you should enjoy the game much more.

I used to be insanely addicted to ms. I spent way too much money and time on the game, pushing back much more important responsibilities.
It wasn't until I finally quit that I figured out why I kept playing the whole time even after a few attempts to quit. It was level 200.
I think I made something like 25-30 characters over a few accounts during the time I played and would always reach 150-175 but I would lose motivation and start over again. It kept clawing at the back of my head.
Luminous made it so easy to hit 200. When I finally made it, and I mean a few hours after hitting 200, I stopped caring. I still played until the first day of unleashed until I uninstalled the game but caring so much about something so silly made me so addicted. It's even dumber because thousands of others already hit 200 but it felt so special to me. I think max level is the reason a lot of people could never quit ms. Even a large number of the 200's didn't even actually play, unless you count logging in and going afk all day as playing. I like basil still though. It's comfy.

I used to love maplestory too. It's a 2D sidescrolling action MMORPG. all my favorite things. and they did it so well. and it really is the only game of its kind.
Over time it's gotten so stale. they increase damage cap and made all the classes the same. it's rather boring, even though Nexon was only trying to spice it up. it lost a sense of balance and now I can pretty much 1HKO everything. its lost its "gameplay".
But I check in every so often because I honestly just desperately want it to be fun again. I've put a lot of time and energy (and money) into this game, and it's sad to know it'll never be the same. I'm just holding on to find what I once had.
But if I were to be completely realistic, I can see that Maplestory is really a dying game. in every way possible. and it's sad.

i get obsessed with a character for 3 days, and then jump onto the next one, so that sustains my interest. but ive been trying to fight that so i switched worlds and im investing all my focus into this Pally

but overall i just love the maple world/monsters/classes and its fun to almost sorta daydream about them while playing, to kind of enhance it for me

maplestory imo has not been fun for a while.
I go on maplestory almost like a chore, i don't want to but I feel like I have to.

The amount of money I have spent on the gosh darn game >.<
However, every time I increase my damage, I feel a sense of success. Also, once you find a nice and friendly guild, everything is so much better.
I also have a friend who we always try to duo bosses with. Every time we kill a new boss, it is so satisfying. Normal Gollux used to be unkillable to us, but now we kill him in a breeze

I always watched youtube of godly maplers bossing and cubing. Makes me inspired lol.
I also want to post my own youtube videos when I'm godly enough, so I guess I'll be playing this game for quite a long time lol.
I spent so much time, and money lol
I don't have a girlfriend, so maplestory fills up my loneliness. hehe nah

Maple kills time and the community is not as bad as everyone says. Do not play if you could be doing something better. Also, it is very addicting so use some time management if you happen to play. A few hours can pass so quickly.
