Mothers day

Why do people even celebrate this day. Why is there even a day for this? To remember and appreciate what our mothers have done for us? I think it's a load of BS. Just another holiday to blow your money up. You should love, remember and appreciate the person who brought you into this world every single day. I personally don't need a specific day to show it.

@mitarumetaro: I just don't get why people are always complaining about these holidays. But then again I'm complaining about the complainers.

Just going to drop this and do other stuff.
@mitarumetaro: Yes and? Society is still going to celebrate and promote these days no matter what. It's more tiring hearing people say

Why do we need Valentine's Day/Mother's/Father's Day? We should appreciate our SO/mom/dad everyday.
Why do we need Thanksgiving or Christmas? We should be thankful and spend time with family and give gifts regularly and not just on one day.

over and over whenever these days are approaching.
Wow, your ears must be so tired. I'm sorry that you've had to exercise your ears so much today. Sorry about that.

....and it's true of nearly every holiday. We want to make generic holidays which everyone can celebrate, and then promote them as much as we can so that they feel obligated to celebrate them. And celebrating these holidays consists in purchasing things.

Holidays are a form of societal recognition. Most people already love their mothers, but having a mother's day is a collective tribute from society as a whole to respect motherhood.

It's not an excuse to be nice; it's just a way for society to recognize something as very important.

Oh so you're one of those people. It's like any other holiday then, why celebrate it once for the year?
It's to make it even more special. No one's going to feel special if they're "appreciated" all year round.
It's the one day of the year that you can go all-out.

maybe you don't, but you'd be surprised how unappreciative some people are regarding their parents so they actually need a day dedicated to them to do something about it.
