Feminism and War

Don't you hate it when you're an average male being a nice person and holding a door for someone behind you, who happens to be a woman, and she just runs off a rant on you about how "she can open a door for herself" and goes on to degrade you for things you have not done and have relatively no control over?

Yeah. This reminds me of that video where the bus driver uppercuts that woman in the face simply because "if she wants to speak like a man, she can be treated like a man."
Surprisingly, feminists were not really happy about this event, but I always thought that feminists were trying to be more like men, at least that's how it seems with all their equality rants.

And so I continue this point. As a man who is about to turn 18 soon, I will have to sign up for the Selective Service, especially if I want to receive funding from the government for college. Feminists are not required to sign up for this, now where's the equality in that? You women have the exact same right as me to die in a war.

So, what are your opinions on this and the feminist cause?

Men, their rights, and nothing more; women, their rights, and nothing less.
You could've said "Thank you for your forgiveness! I am most grateful."
But since you didn't say that, that leaves my initial question unanswered. Until you beg for my forgiveness to compensate for your ungrateful attitude, the circumstances will force me to recant my forgiveness. All this will result in me believing that you are ungrateful and insincere when you apologized for your naivete, making you a very cynical and unlikable person; the most unpleasant person to have a conversation with, to be honest
You are entitled.

I'm a female & I'm not a feminist. However, I believe that women can be independent if they wish to be. I think some people underestimate women because they are paid less than men for doing the same job. I think that should be changed along with not requiring women to join the draft when they reach 18. I believe that no gender is greater than another. They both have pros and cons.

Filter is still not fixed. x_x I don't see the banned word. Had to fix my post.
You said you're sorry, so I forgive you. What, do you not want me to forgive you?
I had trouble detecting the "mode" in which you comments were written (I graduated on Sociolinguistics and have since developed the compulsive habit of analysing people's comments) and didn't really know how to reply back.

I'm... not 100% sure how to perceive that, but okay.
If women cannot accept being punched in the face, then they're not responsible enough for equal rights. Women who can accept being punched in the face are responsible enough for equal rights.
You only perceive aggression because you do not understand the ways of the man's world. Sweetie, people punch each other and people get punched, and that's how it has been for a long time. You cannot change that and it doesn't matter if you dislike feminism or not. You're still a woman and you will be treated like a woman. That's why you're a woman, so act like one! You cannot demand respect just because you feel you are being stereotyped into a role your female peers have created for you. If you want to be treated like an individual, then act like one and punch someone.
Thanks for your input. Sorry if I came across as a bit naive in my previous comments- I was ranting and normally when I rant I don't normally show my most intelligent side, nor can I focus on the overall picture. I already realised everything you told me before*, but I needed it to be told to me once again by someone else to get out of my "rant mode". Just one thing: I didn't mean to come across as demanding respect; respect is something you earn, you can't demand or enforce it (that way you only breed fear).

*I'm not a strong person by nature, so I started taking martial arts lessons to learn dish out (mental) punches instead of only receiving them. It's helped me a great deal. Thanks again, sometimes I need my face to be pushed into the facts.

@freejuspower: Apparently that's the etiquette of today, guys and girls holding the door open for each other depending on who arrived at the door first (or who's having his or her arms full).

Hey, hey the trick to loophole this is to open the door for both guys AND girls. There you go. Equality established.

Yep, that's true. It's a good thing as well. I just have a serious personal thing against unfair attacks and hypocrisy and the... people call them "Feminazis" tend to have a habit of doing just that. Whether it's men or women who are getting attacked and generalised doesn't matter. It pisses me off equally as much. I don't do that "sisterhood" thing some ladies expect of me. We're all human.
I could give lots of examples and rant for hours, but I tend to be unable to stop when I really get started, so I'll just retire for the night.

Grrr. >.<

Goodnight everyone.
I'm a female and I strongly dislike feminism for the hypocrisy that inevitably goes with it.

However, I do not wish to be considered a feminist just because I am female. On Basil Market there's too much "Woman want" and "Men are". I've been held accountable for deeds done by other girls and women because I have two X chromosomes. That's nonsense and I will not hold Basil Matket's male community responsible for what other men have done either. There's no such thing as The Man or The Woman. We're all individuals. That goes for everyone. I'm personally a little fed up with the agressive attitude posters tend to display in threads like this because it's good for nothing.

Don't take ladies like the one in Thread Starter's comment seriously. Don't make her problem your problem.
If a woman starts acting like that just tell her you were being polite and that she should stop being a -insert insult here- to strangers because that's just rude and disrespectful. They tend to shut up if you show them that you don't care what their unsolicited opinion on things are.

I HATE girls like that. It is common courtesy for someone to hold a door open for you.
Shut the hell up and walk through the damn door jesus christ.

@Snovvy: I just open the door if someone is near I keep it open until this person go through if the person is far enough I'll just go and leave the door close.

I don't understand the whole femanist and equal rights stuff. Things I don't get
-If you want equal rights, why can't we hit you?
-Why are rape charges and child custody laws in your favor?
-Why do you request equality in the job market yet men are the ones who are still made to pay child support/alimony

there is also so much other things wrong with feminism... but don't feel like getting banned on basil

@Rationale: I agree for there are some factors where things should be equal between the sexes. What definition do you think best works for "equal?"

@Suryoyo: Yeah, that's a classic line.

@MiracleGirl: That is true that there is inequality in other sectors such as salaries. That I don't really the need for differing pays if they are doing the exact same job with the exact same performance. Quite the quandaries!

I find it really funny the feminism, they fight so much for female rights but at the same time they want men under their feet like if men were nothing compared to women....what are the equal rights? keeping the door open so someone go through it's just to be polite, that's how humans try to keep peace between them.
