Pocket Knife Decision

Which pocket knife do you think I should buy
I plan on using it as one of my everyday carry items
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007WHCT5S/ref=twister_B00FOR2DTU?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
This one^ I feel looks a little too aggressive but has more "features" to it, but it does seem more reliable

https://www.amazon.com/TAC-Force-TF-469-Gentlemans-Pakkawood/dp/B003IX11YA/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1480477775&sr=8-3&keywords=pocket+knife
This one^ apparently could have some screw problems. I would need to get longer screws. A bit of a hassle but I guess worth considering. But I do like the look of this one as it is more casual

Thanks for the help

Tac Force actually isn't that bad for a cheap knife. I got one from a long time ago, it still opens smoothly and without any wobbling today, even with casual uses throughout the past few years of cutting brown boxes and papers with it. But, I did have to sharpen it more often compared to my other EDC knives. Now I mostly leave that tac force knife in the car in case of an emergency since it has a window breaker and a seat belt cutter attached to it and my spyderco knives does a way better job at cutting the boxes and paper. But yes, If you have have a higher budget and can afford a better knife, then go for it. It's not a bad thing since it'll be made with better quality, and materials. Like most people say, "you get what you paid for".

Also, you should get a weapon for the purpose you want it for regardless of weapon type. Like swords for example, if you only want it for display purposes then any $20 cheap rat tail, flimsy, easily bendable steel will do the job, but if you want a sword for home defense that's more for combat, then you'll have to buy something that's at least $150 for a wakizashi like the one I have cost $300. One that has a full tang, made 9260 spring steel or better yet-- T10 Tool spring steel, and because a wakizashi is shorter than a 40 inch katana, it is less likely to get stuck on a wooden beam inside the walls, tables, chairs, the wood on your home's staircase when you're swinging it around in a smaller area, and if it's to practice iaido at a dojo or just slashing random stuff up like youtubers with a lot of space around then get a katana.

Same with knives, if it's for general purposes then get whatever you like. If you don't want to lose money thinking it'll be confiscated someday by cops then get a bunch cheaper knives(depending on your budget or how wealthy you are, everyone's meaning of cheap is different). If you plan to go out hunting or camping then get it's up to you to either get a bigger full tang knife with serrated blades, and if you think you can't carry a bigger knife then get a fold-able knife with a serrated blade that's more compact for storage or concealed carry in your pockets. If you're in the military or something then they'll provide you a tactical knife for multiple purposes for a mission.

Please don't purchase a tac force. You will regret it when the blade starts wobbling and it won't hold an edge. If you appreciate knives enough to carry one daily, give yourself something worthwhile. At the very least go to a sports goods store and get yourself a "buck" or a "Gerber" they will still be mass produced knives, but at least they will be decent quality. Remember a knife breaking in your hand can be very dangerous. Please don't buy a knife that is less than 25$ quality.

Although serrated knives does look cool depending on a persons preference, it's completely useless in an urban environment. It's only few purposes are if you're out in the woods for hunting or camping and you need to saw wood or to gut a mammal's(such as a deer or boar) belly open to remove it's organs and things like that.

Gentleman's assisted. I've never been a fan of serrated knives. Plus it looks classy.

@shamieekill: They do random searches inside subway stations quite often, especially at times square and 34th street herald square. I often see NYPD tables set up at multiple spots inside for random searches. They will select a random person walking by and search them, sometimes but not often they even have a K-9 dog by their side and sometimes I even see military personnel with what looks like AR-15's hanging around at 34th street subway station that connects to the lower level entrance/exit of JCpenny at Manhattan Mall. BTW, I'm not sure if you have experience with opening spring assisted knives or not but if you're new then my advice for you is to either open the knife with both hands, or if you prefer using one hand or you're in a situation where you can only use one hand to open the knife then open only using your thumb slowly by using the thumb stud on the blade to be more stealthy. To open it ASAP place your thumb on thumb stud and index finger on the lever that's on the back of the blade that sticks out, then at the same time push your thumb up and your index finger down. When I first learned opening spring assisted knives years ago I kept trying to open it with only my index finger on the lever, it damaged my index finger nail each time I opened it with only my index finger.

I love collecting and practicing with knives and other melee type weapons. Why not get them both? They're both less than $10 and since they're the same type of knives(spring assisted folding knife) they'll both open just as fast with some practice. But, if you're only able to buy one EDC knife out of the two then I'd pick the second one as the first one is too much of a tactical style knife with a serrated blade. You'd be less likely to get away with it when caught by the police as they would see it more as a combat weapon rather than a knife used for work or other general purposes like opening mail or packages. I've been caught a few times with my EDC knife during random searches while living at Manhattan, NYC and I've always used that same excuse and got away with it. I just tell the police I was in the middle of opening some mail/package and I must've subconsciously put the knife inside my pocket when my friend asked me to meet up with him while we were on the phone. BTW, ALWAYS check with your local state laws on the internet or books for any kind of weapons you purchase just to be on the safe side even if you don't plan to bring that weapon out of your home forever.

Never mind, these links suck, I basically linked a Katana and said something smart like "For when you need to kill someone, honorably"

@neveraddaplayer: @windowlegs:
Guys I'm not buying it just for my protection. (And windowlegs I go to a college in Newark, NJ.....yeah I'm not completely safe)
A pocket knife could come in handy at work.
Its just idk which one to pick. The first one seems too aggressive for times I'm not at work. And the second one MAY have screw problems (but it is fixable, just a minor nuisance but fixable)

thinking you are in danger is placing too much importance on yourself. no one is going to go near you... you are completely safe. also, dont bother because you will just cause even more embarrassment when you lose while wielding a weapon
