He's not somebody I hate, but I just find his whole persona laughable. Pretty much how he constantly checks himself and returns to that brooding face, and how self-absorbed he is.
I don't like him as a person.
For the longest time I made fun of his music...then one day I decided I should actually check out his music so that I could better articulate my dislike of it...I started listening to My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy...and 20 minutes later I was certain the album would be one of my all time -favourites-.
It still is. I love his music. His lyrics are crap but the complexity in his music, the creativity, the diversity...is just insane to me. Plus Runaway has ballet in the video...and I love ballet. I've been doing ballet since I was 4 years old and now I help teach it. I love it. The moment I saw that video I was just stunned...for someone who put that in there as a way of trying to familiarize themselves with something they specifically didn't know anything about, and which they had previous dismissed as being 'for the other race'...his understanding of what ballet 'is' (and most people don't have the slightest clue what ballet 'is' or 'represents'...is truly indicative of someone with more intelligence than I had ever suspected him of having.)
Another song that just shows his artistic range and genius is the song 'Blood on the Leaves'
...this kinda made my day. For someone who once has dismissed an artist (at least about things other than his music) but at least gave it a chance to understand & changing their opinion is really cool, even if its just with music. I remember doing something similar with will.i.am/black eyed peas because i hated their music (at least their newer stuff) but then i listened to will.i.am's earlier albums and i thought it was really good. Now I try and have the same outlook with everything
...also...what did you think about Devil in a new dress? ...that song's instrumentals tho... <3

Honestly... Im kinda jelly that I didnt ask this question (Kanye's my fave artist post-2000s). I think people have to seperate his "personal" life (at least what we see, do you really think he's not playing a character ) from his music unless he directly references it...

I find him annoying, so I hate him.
I don't like his music and he seems like an asshole but I like him because of that.
