The first real job
I'm planning on getting a job once I get my license. But I was wondering if it's hard to land a part-time job since I have no prior work experience etc. Do I need connections to get one easily?
Q: Where did you first work?

@Sojin: you can try and build your resume through volunteering, or co-op experience or get a first job at somewhere like a fast food restaurant. It sucks but you do what u gotta do.
employers usually just look for if you have experience, and if that experience is related to the job your're applying for.
They usually look for independence, initiative, willingness to get along with others, and customer service.
of course, this is what my employer told me when i asked him during my interview for a burger joint, but im guessing its generally the same for other workplaces.

Thanks, same goes for you! Let's work hard and hope for the best!

I'm also looking for a new part time job. Been working for 6 years at the same place. For the last few weeks I've been job hunting without succes. Mostly because I don't match the profile, or I'm too old (21). Now I've applied for a job as a waiter at a japanese restaurant. Left my name and number and they would call me back. Hope I get this one...
If it's part-time no prior experience usually doesn't matter much.. Just really depends, but it's usually generally pretty easy as long as you're not socially inept.
My first job was doing like landscaping pretty much..

I think the government gives grants or something to places to hire teens in the summer.
I guess volunteer work can count as experience?
If you live where there are summer season job then apply there since they will almost hire anyone.
My first and current job is at Kumon, and god does it suck.
Connections can srsly get you anywhere. I know people without diploma's earning 4x more than people who wasted their life studying till they're 28 and now can't find a job.
