Reasons maple is died

Hello my fellow maplers. Today i want too discus the topic that is the "reason maplestory died". What ruined the game that once was loved by more people than it does now? If you think im being nostalgic and think the game is fun and your having the time of your life you can leave now...Okay! So iv'e done a lot of thinking and i think i figured out the solution. This answer might be shocking. The reason maplestory died is... YOU. Thats right you heard me. You guys all ruined Maplestory! Now, before you all think im a nut case hear me out. I have my reasons. Okay so "most ppl" claim maplestory's population started decling after Big Bang. And if you were playing during big bang just like i was, i recall nexon giving us choices on what they should improve. What was the final result? If you still remember it was 8*% (eighty something percent). Out of all the options 'make it easier to level' was the highest. Lets backtrack bit. Back before big bang, it took so much time to blossom our characters into what our society calls "pro". You had to work hard to hit those high levels. There were "pros" which i'd say was about 10% of the popultion and then there were noobs. Noobs made uo most of the population! If you were a noob back then and voted for this, you ruined maplestory. How could you? And for most maplers, working hard and playing for long hours is what gave them the drive to continue playing subconciously. The feeling of satisfaction when you hit the level you wanted. Now that its easier to leave, some people dont get that feeling no more. Also, i know they increased the level cap and now its hard to get to 250 but the gap between big bang and the level cap icrease was too long. People got use to leveling easier and got lazy. This is my theory. Also there are other reasons. Honestly, maplestory was the firt online game i heard about that was free. It was one the big online games that was out. I mean, Runescape? Didnt even bother with that. I could go on but i want to hear what you guys think. Am i wrong? Am i a nut case? Or am i flying poka dot unicorn with six wings and a diq shaped horn named pedro?
P.s im not sober...

Maplestory is definitely declining. Why? Most of the people that started playing grew up and quit. More people are quitting than there are joining. Simple as that.

Gotta laugh at that title.

OT:The game is far from dead but finding people to do things with is nearly impossible if you're not in a relatively active guild/alliance since most activities can be done and usually are better done solo. You're right on the money though. If leveling wasn't so ridiculously easy up until around 180 or so the game wouldn't seem so dead. Like 75% of the game's content isn't even viable anymore due to how quickly you pass the point where they would be useful and the fact that there's almost always a glaringly superior option. The increased level cap wouldn't be so bad if not for the fact that there's nothing to really do but grind(in the same map you've been grinding at since level 160 now) and boss(if you can afford the gear needed to clear those abominations or have connections) at that point.

Back then leveling was hard but you had plenty of viable options which allowed you to really experience the world in full and be excited about what's to come later on.
Even after BB we still had a few decent options and getting to to 200 was still a bit fun because LHC and SH mobs were difficult and required a party to gain the maximum benefits. Increasing the damage cap to 50m would have probably ruined those maps though, turning them into leech farms like it did to the pre-nerfed HoH and current SDH.

Current Maple is pretty lame compared to what it once was but not dead. No one thing really caused it's downfall, more like the combination of numerous poorly implemented bits of content, unnecessary nerfs to otherwise decent content turning them into a waste of space and to an extent the community. Some people can still find fun in it but it's safe to say that the majority of those not heavily involved with friends and other guild/alliance related activities are simply lurking about clinging onto memories of past and waiting for that next update fix to satiate their thirst for good content. As long as KMS keeps updating, the game will never die.
