@17forLIFE: Have you ever seen a Washington Post political cartoon? That's what I envisioned this comic as. That's why my arguments were the way they are. They were not absurd, they were highly analytic. You cannot assume someone doesn't have the intent of portraying a message just because it's on such a website as 'Basilmarket'.

And I squashed the 'beef'; that's why it got locked. I locked it. I'm cool about what you said, offended, but cool. No point of making a thread about it. Like the first poster said, I was 'butthurt' or angry.

I assumed you called me an idiot because you called my argument an 'attempt at trying to look smart', therefore meaning that i'm actually stupid: I was just trying to sound like a smartass. I only made my analysis because I perceived (as I said above) the comic as one similar to a WP political cartoon.

I was not showing off, I was giving my opinion. I think the only reason people (people in the thread I made said the same thing) are saying that is because Basilmarket does not a have a very, or doesn't come off as a very, 'intellectually gifted' community. So when people are saying something smart, people tend to attack it.
Seriously what drugs are you on? I suggest you stop before you become anymore brain damaged. How am I acting superior to anyone? I was saying they were being stupid for taking this screen, which was just for fun, so seriously thinking it was somehow a political joke. I'm not saying I'm better than them just pointing out they were being stupid. And lol again @ you still not understanding. Saying a political joke is subjective is like saying somethings that's hot is literally hot (bad example but can't think of anything atm), we know hot means sexy and don't take it literally. A political joke is a joke relating to actual political situations that are happening, like a joke on Obama Care, this screen has no real connection to the actual candidates or their stance on things. Now just stop before you make yourself look anymore stupid.
I'm obviously not getting through to you (and it was my mistake to try, as it ended up being more of a waste of my time than I anticipated). You've got your head too far up your ass to realize that you're only making yourself look like a fool by throwing around insults.

You might find that a better use of your time would include reading up on the stances you choose to argue about. I also see that you couldn't give me any evidential information to back up your claims, but I'll let that slide as you seem to be stuck at a level of maturity that compels you to flame at anything you don't agree with.

And yes, that was a terrible example. Have a great day. I'll let you take the last word, as most incompetent people tend to want to do.

@PonyCard:

Maybe because you're blatantly trying to come off as ignorant via the name-calling of others, as well as the fact that you seem to think you're superior to them because you "understand it better"/"get it" ("it" being the comic in question).

Here's a task for you: could you link me to a strict, set-in-stone definition of the term "political joke"? Hint: I think you'll find that it's an umbrella term with various definitions and connotations, meaning its interpretation can be (whoa! really?) subjective based on the subject matter involved.

The more you know! Maybe you should "learn what a political joke is before you make yourself look like a dumbass".

"Lol @ people taking this seriously. How can you be this stupid that you can't see it's just for fun? Lol even more @ people saying it's poorly done, think about what you just said."

So yeah, you're calling people stupid for their opinions. What a "political joke" is is also subjective based on your own views. It's not funny, which is my belief, meaning that it's (again, according to me) a poor example of said type of comic with little to no effort being given by the creator.

You're the only one here feeling threatened, mate.

Reply October 8, 2012 - edited
DopeReligion

@PonyCard:

It's only stupidity according to your opinion of the comic (which is, I'm assuming, approval). My personal opinion is that it's unfunny, and the fact that it's poorly done only takes away from what it's trying to accomplish. Why should that impact what you think of it yourself? o.o The whole comic is playing on a political joke - an attempt at humor which utilizes current political situations.

It's not taking the internet too seriously, it's stating a point of view. People are entitled to them regardless of your idea of what's "stupid".

@TheGoatfry: You're other ones were pretty funny, but for some reason they didn't touch me the way this one did.

@17forLIFE: If someone came up to me and called me the n-word but than said "it was a joke" I wouldn't just sit there 'ladi-da' and let them get away with it.

@3moRaccoon I haven't played this game or been on this website in 2 years. I can't tell what clothes are boy and which are girl, so rather than be like "bro" cause you might be a chick. Anyway, yeah I read your whole argument. I'm not mad or anything, I'm just like chill. Nothing is intended to be racist. All my comics are edgy. Look em up.

Everyone else - I know these are poorly done. It's intentionally made to look that "I just threw this together and did a poor job" style. Again, look at my other screens. My comics used to hold slot 2 and 3 on "Most popular screens of all time" for like a year. I make better stuff, I just screw around for fun with these ones.

The brown potion joke is referring to the iced tea he's holding.

here

andddd I actually don't know where the Palin one is... I'll try to find it later maybe. The point is, they're for fun, they aren't satires, they aren't biased, my citizenship is American, but I live in Europe and I don't vote. Plus I made this one because it's for the lolz and people used to really like them.

and @3moRaccoon:

Bro, or lady, I can't tell. Chill out. All of your deep searching for symbols and metaphors is complete fantasy. I picked the black pilfer because 1. It looks cool and can easily be edited on to a picture of Obama's head. 2. It makes the old jokes about Obama being dexless a little funnier.

Romney has a bow because "ranger romney" is silly alliteration.

I don't like it.

The way you portrayed President Barack Obama was demeaning. First of all, it was racist and stereotypical that you would portray the individual as the Maplestory class: theif. In a metaphorical sense, I get the feeling that he represents the downfall of this country from the last for years. He's "stolen" out freedom. However, the way Bush left us, the economy, the way he put our lives in danger like this, you CANNOT blame Obama. In fact, Obama has closed the deficit by alot, compared to what McCain + Palin would have done. Also, by the way yu structured Barack Obama's arguments, I found a deeper meaning within it. Seemed as though you thought Barack Obama made excuses, which is what he DID NOT do during the debate, and neither has he ever, during his campaign or during the debate, fabricated such 'blasphemy': something Mitt Romney did throughout. The last panel (featuring Obama) was humorous, however, untrue. The part about medicare cannot be described as such. In reality, that's not how it works. You cannot compare the economy of Maplestory to that of America's. They are similar but it is not true.

Now my analysis of Mitt Romney. Throughout the entire comic I noticed alot of bias toward Republican Candidate: Mitt Romney. The way you actually physically PORTRAYED Romney in the comic was disgusting. An archer. Disgusting! Not a crossbowman, but an Archer. With a deeper analysis, I feel as though you are comparing Mitt Romney to Robin Hood. Robin Hoods motto was "steal from the rich and give to the poor". I've also compared Mitt Romney to Robin Hood, or rather, contrasted the two. I've concocted a motto for Mitt Romney: "steal from the poor and give to the rich." This analogy has let me to believe you are mistaken about what Mitt Romney is going to do for this country. You believe that he will help the lower class (which, by the way, not ONCE came out of his mouth during the debate); when in fact, he will strip the lower class clean of programs that benefit them alot more than the upper class. These programs include welfare, training, and alot more; but I shouldn't get into it since i'm talking about your comic. Within four seconds of reading Mitt Romney first dialogue I could feel the republican bias. My analysis tells me that you think Mitt won the entire debate because he tricked Barack Obama. Which, in fact, is a lie. The other way around happened. The reason Barack Obama didn't talk so much is because he knew Mitt Romney would fabricate alot of BS, which did happen: he lied numerous times and changed his mind so many times, that I cannot even tell what he's for (campaign-wise)! The only thing truthful within the ENTIRE comic is the dialogue (or monologue) between Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan. Throughout the debate, whilst telling his lies, he used propaganda so much! He used things like families in Minnesota (which, tbh, no one cares about -_-) to strengthen dis broken arguments.The last Mitt Romney quote makes me confused. The way I analyzed it, it seems you are demeaning Mitt Romney, when, however, throughout the whole argument you've had bias toward him! I would like you to explain the quote further.

TLDR: Basically, your comic needs to be in the Washington Posts political cartoons. Because the amount of bias and prejudice used in the piece was disgusting.
