Im Awkward and Pathetic. Help?

So I haven't been on this site in about a year. I just came across a new problem that requires anonymous help from the internet, and I've always turned to here.
Anyway, so there's this girl (of course). Thing is, I can't talk to... people. I can never think of things to say, and if I say something, they give one word responses and things get awkward.
Also, I'm not exactly what the kids say "attractive to members of the opposite sex" both in a physical and behavioral approach. That might be a problem too.

Help?

What quite a few people in this thread have already mentioned...
Be yourself. Think of anything that comes to your mind, make random conversation. Talk about pretty much anything. It's good to be random here and there

Love yourself before you even have a chance of loving others.
Don't worry though, I guess I have the same problems as you to a lesser degree.

It's okay to be awkward.

I'm awkward and my girlfriend is awkward so it's all good.

I remember you.
Anyway, have a bit of confidence, probably smile a bit more if you don't smile much already. Just try to start with a simple "Hi, how are you?" once in awhile. If she doesn't try to start a longer conversation, ditch her and move on.

I cannot stress this enough, and I know you will not enjoy this, BUT BE YOURSELF, SAY WHATEVER IS ON YOUR MIND, SERIOUSLY, ANYTHING, AS LONG AS YOU'RE NOT LYING. If they don't carry on the conversations, but are truly interested, you carry it on with whatever is on your mind, no matter how blunt, stupid, random, or whatever else just keep going until it's obvious the other person wants to get out of there.

Confidence. It really does attract women (indirectly in some cases).

Just talk to her, the worst you can get is a swift "no" from her..

idk why
but lots of ppl feel nervous when they talk to girls
i think its pretty normal, dont be scare

just being confident
talk to her like u are talking to ur friends
somethings like "hey what's up?"
then start a conversation about homework, classmate, tv show or anything

I didn't think anyone knew me in the first place. o.o

Well, I'll try. Thanks.

@HDWang92 Thanks for the tips

You could always try asking a person, "Hi there, how are you doing?" It's worth a shot. and then you can awkwardly glance at them if there's silence between the two of you. In which case you'd abruptly say.. "SOUNDS LEGIT" and you walk away.

I'm going to continue sipping my spicy cocoa.

Make an objective evaluation of yourself and work on whichever qualities you're dissatisfied with.
No one wants to be with someone that's an emotional wreck.

@below:

There is the very real possibility OP is referring to speaking, the thing people do outside of the internet, which usually doesn't involve typing.
