I swallowed a pop tab

So last night I swallowed a pop tab and I'm not quite sure what's gonna happen. Have you guys ever swallowed a foreign object before? Did you just poop it out?

Am I gonna die?

Congrats! By the way, most things that are inedible will simply pass through your GI system with ease as long as it's not reactive. Even chewing gum will pop out in three days or less. Your intestines are very durable and will not tear easily.

Only a few elastics (orthodontic rubber bands), oddly enough i sometimes feel like eating potentially dangerous non-food items, but i know better than to actually do it

I swallowed 4cm long orthodontic metal wiring. The good news is it snapped in half when I swallowed it so it had two small pieces that were now more likely to safely pass through my intestines. The bad news would be that since it snapped it was now sharper and could probably do some internal damage. Got lucky and just pooped it out. It took 3 poops until I found it in my poop. You want to make sure it actually does come out because it's bad if it remains stuck within your intestinal tract possibly clogging it So you should dig through your poop. If you start pooping blood its time for the er. If you feel any discomfort you should get it checked. Not trying to cause panic, but swallowing coins is different since pop tabs I think are actually sharp? Unless I'm mistaken.

What fradd states is unrelated. Your stomach acid does not matter because the pop tab does not stay in your stomach for long. It will not erode the pop tab. What you need to worry about is your intestines. Try not to do a lot of extreme abdominal motion as it travels through for fear of somehow rubbing it against your intestinal walls. (Once again I'm under the assumption pop tabs are slightly sharp).

If you're unlucky, your intestines will tear requiring surgery.
If you're unlucky, the tab will get caught on some intrusion, and will require surgery.

It's going to go through your digestive system and come out the other end. Might be taking a dump one day and hear a "plink!" sound... and there's your pop tab.

That's pretty much it.

Apparently you won't die, or need surgery, unless you start pooping out blood. Otherwise it'll prob be dissolved over time. Kids swallow things like pennies etc all the time, don't see them falling like flies.

i almost swallowed $2 canadian coin at the ripe age of 3. I was chocking on it but luckily my grandfather caught it. Idek how thats possibly; his fingers were huge while my throat was.. well, small.
My lil bro swallowed a penny and he pooped it out 1-3 days later. You don't need to worry; your body will get rid of it, but it might take a few days.
