Then you either haven't logged a ticket in the past year since they stated they were working on "improving" their service or haven't noticed it.
Customer Support has improved greatly since a couple years ago, especially with the live chat system.

Also, I think what really helped you is this line "Since I'm a player aswell". If he wasn't, I don't think you'd get any sympathy or compensation.
