@ichii: Okay, fair and true. Evan's doing a damn good job considering what he's having to live up to versus his humble origins. Also didn't know that tidbit about Onyx Dragons. That just makes Afrien the ultimate lazy broke son though, he's literally getting fat off Freud's power.
I vote for Freud. Sealing time itself, being the one who united the 6 heroes in the first place, acting as the leader when they set to war. He was also the one who came up with the plan to divide the seals into the different towns. Luminous is dumb, man o:
@galbatore: Pretty sure Luminous was referring to Freud's intelligence more so than his strength, as the strength of a mage is directly related to their intellect. He also notes that the size of an Onyx dragon is directly related to the strength of the mage so take that as you will.
They chose Evan to lead because they believe in Freud and he believed in Evan. It's noted throughout the story that Evan isn't a moron and he gets them out of several jams as they progress. He just lacks the same confidence that Freud had, which he slowly grows out of with the encouragement of the group. I mean he was just a normal farm boy before this massive destiny was dropped onto his lap.
@ichii: Well, I obviously haven't played that so that was my thinking besides. Though, being a stronger mage doesn't necessarily indicate a greater intellect, though Freud's clearly working his nerd ass off to maintain his lead.
As for Evan, making him the bossman isn't the greatest of tactical decisions. He's a bit of a muppet, a ditz. But, he is the only hero who can get along easily with all the others, so maybe a bit of simple cheeriness is what they need.
I own the ign 'Freud' and am willing to delete it for the right reasons. Let me know.
I'm way more of a 'Jung' girl - 'Freud' is a bit one tracked. He stumbled on the path but never saw that it was a colossal tabernacle. I guess he got what he got by approaching things with a confirmation bias. Unfortunately he struck gold while trying to answer his own very personal problem and was content that that was representative of the rest of the world. No, it was just Freud and his own subconscious sexual problems. This is why Jung distanced himself by calling that massive 'tabernacle' the unconscious as opposed to Freud's 'subconscious.'
Anyways. Freud is still awesome. Two of my all time favourite books are: 'The Pleasure Principle' and 'Civilization and its Discontents.' Also, if you like comparative religion/mythology, check out: 'Moses and Monotheism.'
But yes. I got the ign Freud and am willing to delete it for the right reasons.
@galbatore: Didn't need all that lol. Luminous outright admits that Freud was the only mage that he couldn't catch up to in the Heroe's of Maple blockbuster after Evan tries to persuade him to join the cause. It's also stated that Freud was in fact their leader and they all decide that Evan should lead in his stead.
I'm pretty sure Freud is, in game I also remember seeing something about him being the greatest mage somewhere, he was the leader of the heroes too, plus his successor is the current one.
I mean, aside from the fact his friggin' name is FREUD, he's the one who devised the methods of sealing the Black Mage in the first place. The arguable bossman of the first incarnation of the Heroes, he managed to keep a very diverse group in line even through obviously stressful situations, demonstrating great leadership skills.
So besides being the hands-down best theoretical magician (I mean to say, he draws his power from magical research alongside Afrien, rather than natural talent as Luminous does, seeing as Luminous is basically the reincarnation of the Black Mage's former light... the White Mage had done all the groundwork before Luminous was even born), he's demonstrated a canny understanding of people as well.
Luminous has shown himself to be pretty impetuous, actually. He's very powerful and very brave for certain, but he's a bit of a hothead. If I'm not mistaken he did spend a long time studying with the remnants of The Aurora, so he's no fool, but he hasn't shown the capability to come up with mad-ass plans (that actually work!) as Freud did. Plus he seems to spend half his life cat-fighting with Phantom.

Eunwol
Luminous. At least he's smart enough to not die.
Freud definitely.
Between those two? Luminous (not serious)
Freud just thinks about screwing his mom and makes up theories to support that thought process.
Note: Just realized that most kids won't know what I'm talking about. /shrug
