I'm using a small Intuos4 (was 200 bucks), but recently wacom changed the names of their tablet model lines or something. I used to have a large Intuos3, but I wanted a small tablet so I could bring it on trips and to school. I haven't touched my Intuos3 since, because it is just so much more convenient having the small one and impossible to always switch between them (getting used to the size ratios). Honestly, a large tablet might be good for beginners so you get more used to having a 1-to-1 ratio with your screen, but small ones are just as good and save space and money.

quality-wise, I can't speak for bamboo and monoprices, because I know people who have theirs for a long time and it's still fine, but I also know people with those lines/brands that have pressure-sensitivity problems and other issues. I haven't had any issues with my Intuos3 (used it for 5-6 years) nor my Intuos4 (used it for the past 3-4 years)

I've got an Intuos4 L. Got it for 500 euros about 4 years ago? I also have a small bamboo which I got in high school. Never use that.

I'm using an Intuos 3 that my friend loaned me, so technically I paid nothing. My school also has Cintiq 22HDs, but does not provide the pens, so for that I needed to purchase a pen, which was like $60. For my own personal work after school, I'm looking into the Yiynova for a Cintiq-like experience for a quarter of the price point.

Intuos 5 Medium. Bought it when it for something like $400 bundled together with Painter 12. An okay deal.

The Intuos line looks cheaper nowadays because they rebranded the Bamboo line as the Intuos line, and rebranded the Intuos 5 line as Intuos Pro. It has nothing to do with lowered prices, unfortunately.

I'm aware the title says wacom, however i have a monoprice tablet, 10 x 6.25 inch w/ hotkeys and it cost only $50, works beautifully.
It's a great price for its size, the cheapest wacom tablets are quite small and yet still more expencive than this. In my experience having a larger surface to work with helps greatly with precision.

On a completely unrelated note, I accidentally hit "thumbs up" on KaichouShion's comment.. the huge button that doesn't appear until you hover over it is a little silly, isn't it? o.o especially if there isn't a "thumbs down" or undo button

Bamboo, which was around 90$. Definitely cheaper now.

If you are deciding which tablet to buy, consider your drawing habits and how you see yourself drawing in the next few years. If you are a casual drawer like a lot of us are, definitely the simplest one (bamboo) is the one to go. It's stable, robust and lasts years. If you are planning to become a more pro-digital artist, still look into a bamboo. The higher level lines are a major jump, and it does require investment. Not everyone has a spare 300$ to spend on an intuos tablet.

I just checked their website, and wow things sure have gotten cheaper!
Bamboo line is now 49+
Intuos line is now 99+

Much more affordable now!
