Never watched SAO before

Now I'm curious, I mean an anime with such an epic theme couldn't be that bad/cringey right?

First arc, and mother's rosario are pretty good/10 tier.
First arc was great. Then it goes tumbling down fan-service and terrible development. Such a shame.
i enjoyed the first arc, but it went downhill after the first few episodes.
Roxas pretty much nailed it. High production value, incompetent writers.
A-1 pictures which does the adaptation is notorious for good starts and horrible endings.
SAO's OST was great, wish the same could be said for the story that started out promising.
That said, SAO isn't "the worst anime ever" that some hellbent people make it out to be though; it's average.
Its pretty bad. The writing is bad, and the character development is bad. Is it watchable? Yes it is. Is it the worst anime of all time? No. Honestly what makes sword art online bad is the wasted potential. It could have been great but after the first half of the first season it just goes down hill.
I will say though that the anime isn't bad looking and it has a decent OST. Also the action scenes arent that bad either.
