ahhh good point, idk I didnt think about that because I wanted to save as much and get a low price laptop for non gaming use.
Just when I already purhased a $170 HP Pavilion G60 vista home premium 16" laptop, I see an Asus 15.6" for only $199.99.... bad timing damn.

Oh god, why does Dell / HP have more votes?
Well, why are your choices,..

If your just including mainstream laptops (not business class), Go for a Mac, Lenovo, Fujistu, or Asus. If you want to stick to the ones you listed, go for Acer.

I personally own a refurbished Lenovo, and it's still in almost perfect shape after 2+ years.

I've had a Lenovo and they're pretty good, lasts for quite awhile i think one of the hinges on my lenovo got stuck and when i tried to close it it broke part of the laptop
soooo idk. everything worked fine, just needed lots of duck tape

I've also had a samsung laptop and they're pretty good too

out of those choices i don't really like any of those brands if i had to choose anything HP i suppose

@YouAzle: Amazon's got great deals for not only used but new machines. I'd check there first, it will ship to you faster.

Stay away from Alienware[/quote]
Ignore the poll, I just put whatever brand came to mind and I didnt know about Asus or lenovo. Those are expensive though, and recently found out that HP laptops heat up and get very hot...not good. So I'm going with Asus or Lenovo. But not sure to get from ebay or Amazon.

Haven't had any bad experiences with Dell or HP machines.
I've never used anything from Acer or Compaq.

I wouldn't trust Dell and HP at all. They are popular brands but they definitely aren't the most reliable. I've trusted Lenovo and Acer with laptops. In the end though, a huge factor is the build quality. If a computer doesn't have a good heating solution, you're ganna fry your internals if you don't monitor it all.

Compaq and HP are manufactured by HP I think.
I don't know why people keep getting Acers. Dell seems to be used by a lot more people so it's probably better. Idk how else to compare them.

EDIT: actually, Dell makes Alienware laptops, and we had one of those but it totally sucked. We barely used it but every time we did it had another problem. I think the power supply was ruined eventually or something like that.
We had a huge Dell XPS 710 or 720 or something and after a few years that thing's power supply went bad too, or it coulda been the motherboard. We haven't bothered to figure it out. The graphics card was awesome though.

So nevermind on Dell. Get an HP.

Why isn't Asus on that list? I've had an Asus laptop for 2 years now and it's been running great for this whole time, and you get great quality for how much you spend.

HP has a nice build quality. Lenovo is pretty reliable. Dell, well I can't really say since the only Dell Laptop I've owned ran on XP. And I haven't used Acer or compaq.

Mac or Lenovo if you want reliability. Yes those brands are a bit pricier but in the long run it'll be worth it because they last.

none.

it depends.

of that list, i only have experience with acer and dell. screen broke on the acer and i had to replace the power button cable inside the laptop under the keyboard in the dell.

just get whatever laptop you want.
