How do I convince my friend?
@Heatless and I got into an argument about whether natural disasters would still happen or not if Absol wasn't present to witness it.
Facts: Pokedex entries say Absol is not the cause of disasters, but is present at sites where they occur because he can foresee them, and wants to warn the people living in the area of the coming disaster. Because of his presence, people mistakenly assumed he was the cause.
@Heatless 's position: Natural disasters will not happen without Absol's presence because Absol and disasters go hand-in-hand. Wherever there are natural disasters, Absol is there, therefore when Absol is not present, there will be none.
My position: Absol's presence somewhere is dependent on a natural disaster occurring in that area. Natural disasters are not dependent on Absol. So, "If Absol is present, then there will be a natural disaster." is true. The converse, "If there is a natural disaster, then Absol is present." does not have to be true. The inverse, "If Absol is not present, then there will not be a natural disaster" is also false.
How do I make my argument better? Or am I completely off?

@fun2killu That's what I have been saying, but he's stubborn so I'm wondering if there is a different way to argue it.
Absol isn't related to the cause of disasters at all, it's merely a witness or harbinger. thus disasters are caused and occur independent of Absol, despite it being present for them. if, for example, Absol were to be extinct, natural disasters would still occur. i do find it entertaining that they had to essentially retcon Gen I and II to include Absol in later games, otherwise we'd have regions that undoubtedly had natural disasters despite Absol not being a part of their ecosystem.
oh and i don't think it's reasonable that Absol would always be able to make it to every disaster, as well as the rarity of them/the connotation of the pokedex entry implying there aren't many of them.
Absol is not the cause for them so therefor they would still occur with or without him. I don't understand the discrepancy.

If that happens, then what I was arguing is true, because Absol does not have to be present for a natural disaster to occur.

I know Absol can see into the future, but that doesn't change the fact that he is present before a natural disaster occurs to warn people about it.
