Anime

i think cowboy bebop is overrated

a lot of list consider cowboy bebop the greatest anime but i think its kinda overrated
SPOILER ALERT
-too many fillers, 90% of the episodes are fillers; sure it makes you connect with the characters more but i'd rather have some sort of storyline
-i did not care about julia nor did i felt bad when she died
-can anybody shoot a damn gun? except for the good guys
-the only part where i felt something was when edward, the dog, and the purple hair girl left and spike and jet were left eating eggs in the quiet
-the final battle spike vs. vicious lasted like 3 minutes...

what are your thoughts on it?

personally me; death note>fma brotherhood>code geass>cowboy bebeop
It is a little bit overrated. It's VERY good but it's not aslkdjfwaoiefnasl ungodly good like many people claim it to be. It still had it's problems.

By the way when you have a show like this, the "fillers" ARE the show. Not every story has to be some sort of die-hard story that has no fillers with cliffhangers into each episode. This obviously was not intended to be that way.
i agree with this

The way spike walks...The fact that most/all of the characters have live's before the anime is rare , in anime anyway , this is the fun of the story, every line show's 20+years of story

Deciduous makes a good point, there's no post's saying how good cowboy bebop is , it's widely accepted to being very good, IMDB gave it 9.0/10

Well worth a watch

While I don't think it's a 10/10 anime, I do think that both the technical and storytelling elements have been done well. And those aren't filler, they develop the characters. The series is episodic, that's all. A good thing about the series is that it only has 5 main characters and it knows that. It doesn't try to waste screentime developing insignificant characters.

i admit i watched the first few episodes and kinda dropped cowboy bebop. dunno, it seems just to me nothing really important happens...

on the other hand, samuari champloo, from the same director, was amazing and am still watching it.

honestly i'm not even willing to admit Cowboy Bebop is overrated

it's a damn classic and i don't actually hear much praise for it. it just seems like an accepted Fact of Anime that the show is good, so people don't spout on about it...and then something like this comes along where people are tryna be vocally opposed to it? ok
just to keep things in perspective, there are not a lot of series that are on par w something like Cowboy Bebop, and a level of audio/visual quality certainly hasn't been reached very often in recent anime.

e: lmao i'm campaigning for an anime that i'm not even particularly attached to

@dopeazn

Cowboy Bebop is the most realistic futuristic anime out there, the characters are all normal people, there not trying to save the world, just pay off their debts and put food on the table, cowboy bebop is exceptional

it's a great anime for its time. by late 90s era standards, it's very good. the music is its selling point. also, your tastes are complete crap so your opinion is invalid. you've never even seen a good anime, lmao. btw, it's on their best anime list because that's their opinion. it's not an anime that everyone would like.

Cowboy bebop is probably the funniest anime out there, every episode is hilarious, every line is hilarious, ed is hilarious, the dog is hilarious, Faye is hilarious 90% of the time, the only time she isn't is her episode, spike is hilarious, when he's not being hilarious he's a absolute wrecking machine. honestly if spike's martial arts ( jet kwon do ) doesn't make you want to start martial arts nothing will. Jet is also very funny

On the point of fillers, there's no such thing, the anime is about bounty hunters , every episode has a bounty .

Julia- fair point, nice lady though

yes people can shoot, there are some fantastic baddies in that anime, again , hilarious and touching

Anime's don't have to make you " feel" they can just be good fun which is a feeling in unto itself ,

the final battle - would of been just as good if the baddie got shot in the head and the battle only lasted 1 second, the whole series had lead up to that moment and it did not disappoint

Cowboy Bebop is a 10/10 anime,

as others have said, the Dubbed is one of the best out there , and the music is quality

It is very difficult to discuss anime without spoiling it for others, every episode of cowboy bebop is unique in it's own story, with even the episode's that have no fighting and next to no talking are amazing

The design , cities and general scenery and borderline one of a kind

Cowboy bebop is the best anime

Edit: Death Note is overrated as well. First 1/3 was absolutely EXCELLENT! But the 2/3 and 3/3 really went down the toilet (still leagues ahead of 90% of shows out there) compared to the first 1/3. I liked the ending though.

Your taste are pretty bad but I agree, cowboy bebop is extremely overrated.

@Deciduous It's overrated. Yeah, it has good qualities but there are many more anime that beat those qualities.

I've jumped on the bandwagon that claims that Cowboy Bebop has some of the best dubs out of any anime. I do believe that I liked the dubs better than the subs, but no matter what, the music really did it for me.

tbh your preferences seem shallow and skewed towards mediocre, relatively new anime. like you can't even list a mecha/sci fi series better than Code Geass?
it's fine to take issue w/ elements of Cowboy Bebop, like the lack of a constant, overarching story. however in your desire to shoot it down you've neglected the animation quality, superb soundtrack, and great character development that comes from all the "filler." i really don't see how it is overrated when the praise for it merely acknowledges what are its objectively obvious good qualities.
