Here's the perfect chance to make up for 02's awful ending with actual Taiora moments.
I wouldn't mind pouring an hour of my night into the typing game, but there's a time limit and I can't beat the last part where I have to decipher the odd symbols/characters. ;_; The points required seem to have dropped by ~3000 since the last time I checked, so with any luck, we'll know something more within a week.
There's a way to cheat. Drag the symbols out of the game, which should cause a new page to pop up. The word should be in the address after "question/".

Time to google all one-bazilliongajillion Digimon and their evolutionary trees... woo...

@Plenair Sorry for misunderstanding your point. The designs do evolve beyond those (no pun intended), but Xros Wars has a ton of robotic looking Digimon, including a yellow robotic Latios.
Taiora was fabricated? Wait, the Eng dub or original fabricated it? Wait, is this for 03?

Are Frontier fans rare or something? That was my favorite growing up. I don't see the appeal in Tamers, the MC turns me away from the series because of how whiny and wussy he is.

Aren't Xros fusions stupid looking as hell? Or did I just look at wrong stuff.
I'm not far enough along in the subbed version to verify the accuracy of everything in this post, but I have watched Our War Game before, and that part is spot on. I'm also 30-something episodes into Adventure and there have been no good hints of Taiora or Sorato so far. I didn't take part in any of the shipping wars from a decade ago, but I am making mental notes this time to draw my own conclusions. (Because I'm on the Taiora boat, I can't trust the post of a passionate Sorato shipper.)

Frontier is something that I may have hated just for the sake of hating, and I won't really know for sure until I do a rewatch. I didn't like a lot of shows when I was in my preteen-early teen years. One of those shows was Heartland, which I recently revisited because it's still airing on CBC - it's now my favorite drama tv series. So who knows, maybe it's pretty good. It had an amazing English opening though.

I guess the fusion thing can be dumb (kind of like how some people think mega evolutions for Pokemon were dumb). I thought it was alright. Xros Wars with Taiki was average for a Digimon series, though if you're not already a Digimon fan, it's probably slightly below average as a shounen. What hurt it the most, in my opinion (and excluding the abomination of a follow-up with Tagiru), was the budget and the art style they went with. Moments that were supposed to be exciting often looked cheap, and because there's not much to be nostalgic about, it's that much easier to be critical and to exaggerate its faults, or to even dismiss it without giving it a fair shot.

I'm watching 01 subbed for the first time, and with the original script and soundtrack, it partly feels like I'm watching a different anime. I've heard that Saban Entertainment did a lot of rewriting (and going so far as to fabricate Taiora), but I never would have imagined the scripts to be this different. Another surprise is that after all these years, it's still a good watch. Episode 21 especially (which was directed by Mamoru Hosoda, the man behind The Girl Who Leapt Through Time) gave me goosebumps.

Tamers was my favorite growing up, but my opinion on that might change as I go through them one by one subbed. Frontier was the last one I watched when I was young, and I don't remember why I disliked it, other than not liking any of the characters. Data Squad is praised a lot by the fanbase, but I couldn't make it past the first two arcs. I actually found the first part of Xros Wars (i.e. before Tagiru came into the picture) a lot more enjoyable than Data Squad. None of the characters in it were particularly good, but the Digimon were well developed compared to most of the previous seasons. Shoutmon working towards a goal of his own rather than existing to serve his partner was refreshing, and he had one hell of a personality too.

@Plenair: Tamers didn't suffer for lack of variety, since they still had new mons and spent more time devoted to a smaller cast. I just assume Adventure 03 will have a large cast again and thus we won't get the sort of character moments (both for Destined and mons) to make retreading the same evos and whatnot worthwhile. I haven't completed any of the seasons after Tamers, though I've seen the most of Data Squad and it's the only one of those I liked. Majority opinion seems to agree w my early impressions, too.

Digivolutions have a semblance of consistency within a single generation, beyond that it's a toss up. Modes and different branches may be added to mons after they've already been featured in a season, or games/cards could have evos that were never represented.
I think a lot of this comes from the fact that Digimon was a show second, and the early games represent things very differently. Just as an example, evolutions are pretty interchangeable like both Patamon and Biyomon being able to digivolve into Birdramon. I suppose it serves my point better to bring up that the Digimon World games (at first) had Rookies digivolve into up to eight different Champions based on aspects like weight/stats/discipline/happiness/etc. I'm sure the games are more advanced now but doesn't seem digivolution that different in the show, just that it's brought on by necessity, personal growth/regression, or command.
I like 02 overall, it's just the reunion at the very end that I strongly dislike and want retconned, because it sets certain pairings (which I don't like but that's subjective) and everyone's futures in stone, which would make a lot of 03 developments predictable/boring. It would also be weird for 03 to introduce new Digidestined and Digimon and for them to not be at the reunion.
I don't really remember the end as opposed to all the great stuff throughout like Wormmon, converting Ken, Mummymon, and just finding the new Digidestined/mons to be very likable.
I might just need to rewatch 01/02 and the movies, bc it's hard for me to hype myself up at the idea of just 01/02 kids again w the same mons (maybe a few diff evolutions). Everybody is definitely likable, has arcs, etc...I just like having shiny new things. I daresay there's a lot of room for improvement over what 01 had for mons, much like how Pokemon's Gen 1 is mostly basic, based on real creatures.

I'm a little late on this, but if you go to http://digimon-adventure.net and skip the trailer, you will see a DigiEgg. You can rub it once a day to get points, and you can get more points by playing a frustrating typing game. On the right hand side of the page, the bar/meter and the number below it indicate the remaining points needed until new information about the anime is unlocked.

@Plenair Hopefully not. The second part of Xros Wars (Young Hunters Who Leapt Through Time) had one of the most annoying protagonists in recent memory. It was a nightmare following it every week and hearing the fanbase say "the plot is coming soon", only for it to come at the very end, and thoroughly half-assed.

idk, I'm not about to fault 02 considering the trash that got put out after Tamers (exception: Data Squad)
just hoping for some new digimon/digidestined to spice things up rather than Tai+Agumon, Sora+Biyomon, etc etc yaaaaawn

My comment implies that I hope they retcon 02's ending. I don't know what the writers were thinking, pairing Sora with Matt, and not pairing Kari with T.K.
Digimon is still a thing?
Its popularity has kind of diminished in the west. Japan's still getting a steady stream of games, as well as an anime every few years.

Yes, it seems like an Adventures 03. Tai was in middle school in 02, and he'll be in high school here. Wouldn't be surprised if there were cameos from other seasons though.
