I wanted to do an easy warm-up drawing today, so I drew the Angelic Burster(or is it Buster?)! I worked from a simple reference photo I found and tried to use an old process I did a lot last year. It's a much more fun process than what I've been doing the past month or so.

Uh...but I'd recommend flipping the picture horizontally to work on your proportions and balance. :I
You have a slight problem with even size, mainly seen in the eyes.
Still great though!
I actually flip constantly when I draw, but overall I'm not really good with anatomy and junk yet. I mean sometimes I'm okay, but I'm really inconsistent! I'm still growing. One of my friends often points out the eye thing-- it's sort of a crutch I picked up from that two-thirds angle after finding a way to draw it easily (though it still manages to be incorrect a lot). I wanted this one to just be a "winding-down" drawing, since I had such a stressful quarter (often second-guessing myself "Why am I even trying to be a comic artist?&quot and barely even got to touch my tablet! Aww man. But yeah. Thanks for the input! I saw a criticism earlier that was also spot-on, regarding the lack of form in the deltoid area and thickness/length of the arm with the buster cannon(which really was a last-second throw-in, since I knew Basilers would be disappointed had it not been there).

a slightly buff AB is better than a cutsy AB

I think its probably just that cheek.. the rest of the body isn't chubby

Back and deltoid needs more depth or tone (maybe it's just too high), and the elbow looks very awkward in relation to the knuckle angle.

The part where the weapon meets the arm (forearm I'm guessing) is a bit too thick, you could argue its proportions, but it needs to stretch out a bit longer and maybe thinner.

Personally, i think the community really started to drastically change to what it is now when the 'Like/Top Comments' system rolled in, and now that the art system is really the only place left to see "top comments" i guess people will say anything on someone's art for that thumbs up no matter how rude, lewd,or mean it is. This in turn rewards people with a good feeling, encouraging others to say similar things while (usually) forsaking genuine constructive or complimentary comments. making the community comparable to youtube comments (-shiver-)
Ah... that doesn't sound illogical at all.

@chrisdude1: Same happened here... >_>

Yeah, agreed again. Ah well, maybe people will start appreciating pictures for different reasons now and will try to help people improve instead of bringing them down. It's something you see all over the Net, not only on Basil. A young girl poster a video of herself imitating Pikachu on YouTube and the comments she received were abusive to say the least. Completely without reason as well. I felt the need to also post a comment telling her to ignore all those insults.

As far as my avatar is concerned*: I actually signed up as male rather than female back in the olden days when you couldn't select a gender for your avatar enough. I didn't care enough to make a whole new account for that. I have no problems with guys at all (why would I? It's illogical), so I'm not offended if people actually confuse me with one online.

Did I ever tell you that your drawing is amazing ? I've been studying your work for a while now but somehow I can't manage to color or shade like you so. I use SAI and my drawing never come out like how I want it.

I don't think it's chubby or muscular at all, but it still looks strange.
The head is too large perhaps?
Excellent drawing nonetheless

Good technique! I like the use of color as well. This still needs to be tweaked because the positioning is off (her head isn't above her neck, her horns are too far forward, and she's got no right hand) but it will be awesome afterward.

When I saw this on the front page, it looked so familiar, and I just couldn't figure out why, but when I clicked on it, I was like Oh, of course! It's BassChan's art work ahah. This has got to be the best Angel Burster I've seen so far! I always enjoy your art
I say 'control' because asking nicely for decency doesn't usually work for perverted young men roaming the Internet, so 'control' is necessary.
People around here seem to expect art to provide fan-service or have professional drawing/colouring, but they don't realise that Basil artists AREN'T COMMERCIAL! Most are just hobbyists who draw when they're bored, with the exception of passionate artists who show the skills they've trained up, such as our lovely BassChan's work right here, and many others which can be found in an art thread about favourite Basil artists. Hobbyists obviously make many mistakes which aren't to the Basil community's "standard".
I'm glad that you're still around to do some law enforcement around here, I haven't seen another Sheriff posting recently, so I've just been guessing that the Basil team can't be bothered checking all the screens/threads. Though, why exactly should you be muttering and reminiscing? 26 is still young, I'd have thought those things are more for senior citizens in their 80's.
Agreed on the muttering and reminisching thing. I was joking about that because I do see a lot of muttering and nostalgia on Basil. Both are fine, but I sometimes think people overdo it a little (I myself had a bout of that just after the Bandit revamp).
Also agreed on the hobbyist argument. Some people probably noticed my uh... crusade, if you like, against "Why's this front paged?" comments. This isn't Deviantart. I don't know MrBasil's reasons for front paging a screen, but I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't only front page works that are of extremely high quality, or that have been made by one of the mods or by someone he would for whatever reason he'd need to suck up to* (actually he doesn't do the last two at all, MrB isn't the type of guy that can be bought), but also works that are promising but somehow lacking, so many people will see them and be able to give the artist advice. The front page is the perfect spot for that.
People have their own idea of why pictures should be front paged (and they're entitled), but it'd be nice if they also considered other possible reasons. They go as far as blaming the artist for the front page! Artists have no influence whatsoever when it comes to that. Even I don't (and I'm happy with that). Only MrBasil does, so people should direct their complaints at him. I don't know why they insist the artist sees their "Why is this fped?" comments, they're a real slap in the face to some people.

I've seen a lot of promising talent here that in my opinion wasn't spotted or was underestimated by the people who appear to come here expecting borderline inappropriate art. I hate to break it to those people, but this isn't that kind of site. :S What you see is what you get.

The overall team's not very active at the moment, but I'm a little more all over the place than the other mods, so I'm easier to spot. I'm going to do a bunch of reports tomorrow. o.o
This really seems to be an inescapable fate when it comes to drawing humanoid characters on this site, eh? I remember when I first started posting my drawings here, nobody made comments as immature and lewd as these. I really don't want to come off as egotistical or anything, but I've just noticed that as I've gotten better at showing the (stylized) human form, these comments became more and more a majority of what pops up on my submissions. Same goes for other artists that I've seen here.
I don't really know what changed about the community because these comments weren't so common a few years ago (instead there were more of them in threads, so maybe the focus shifted from threads to art). I don't want to blame "youth" for it because many people who post such comments are actually over 16.
There's nothing inappropriate about the picture, so I didn't expect those comments to be posted. Naive of me. I've seen it happen before in screens which depicted fully dressed ladies (and gents, there are some dirty girls around Basil as well XD).

Anyway, what annoys me most is that, as I already said, I've had to appeal for pictures to be removed because of this (yours is fine, no worries ). I hated having to do that because each time it was at the expense of the artist. It was either that, or suspending literally hundreds of people. Hip hip hurray. </3 Artist getting punished for something other people did. That is just not right.

*crawls into a corner and sobs to herself*

*A few people think my comics were only front paged because I'm a moderator, not because of their quality. While I don't think my comics are particularly good, I don't think MrB front paged my pictures because we get along well. He's not that kind of guy.

Sorry about the book I just wrote.
...
Idea, I should put this all in my CAT tool Anaphraseus and translate it to Dutch, that way I can train it.
"Control" sounds a bit scary. >< Hard to please, perhaps. Basilers appear to be very conservative and demanding when it comes to art. A person on a picture is easily considered too masculine or feminine and when something's not standard, it's often substandard. MrBasil just instructed to me to suspend or warn for inappropriate comments that have been posted as replies to screenshots, including a few comments that have been posted up here. So it's official: no bosom requests allowed!

I saw a thumbnail with an AB on the front page and thought: "Oh noooooooooooo... and I was not disappointed.

Amazing drawing. I love it. I like how it's not vector art and I like the use of watercolour tools over cauteous overuse of the Magic Wand and blur. Like, like and like again. Have I already said I liked it? I'll say it again. I like it.

However people have to keep their inappropriate fantasies to themselves as per rule #3. I wish I could have posted earlier so I would have been able to warn you advance. I've had to have good art like this removed because people were openly fantasising* about things I will not mention here. So no more boob requests.
It's up to you.
