Did this deserve to win the most creative design idea?

For this program at school where there is a small contest of who has the most creative design idea I made some cool ideas but in the end neither me nor my friends won!
Even though we had awesome ideas we didn't win. My idea: http://imageshack.us/f/18/63841332.png/ it isnt the best but it was better than the other one

Instead this design idea won, did it deserve it? I'm curious on getting basils side of this.
Apparently its a spherical garbage bin ball for your car or house where you can put garbage inside but its portable so you can roll it or kick it anywhere. Sigh

Life is unfair bro, i'm sure you'd be experiencing much more later..
Once entered a competition with a grand prize of 15 da points and lost cause someone(contest holder) decided to call in their friends and vote for this one entry cuz duh, it's his fellow friend-- sheesh.

Anyway, aside from my rant, i couldn't see myself buying any of those items. The foot-rest's simply too small and lets just say for the lack of word choice- useless. maybe if there was this massaging system installed to it then it'll surely catch my eyes. <3

The rolling bin's srsly just, i don't even.
God that's just unprofessional work that looked like it was done by a 3rd grader on a whim.
(not even going to mention how hard it is to clean the bin since it only can be open from the top, it's size problems, kicking a bin? really?) </3

Tough luck man, don't give up trying though.

Both look very useless and pretentious.
Creativity trumps practicality in this case.
It's like those fantastic ads that ask you to spend "only $19.99!1!" on something even you didn't even know you needed.

Footrest is a nice idea, but I don't see myself buying that either. Maybe a knee pillow for my chin because I rest my head on my knee all the time and it hurts my jaw.
But it wasnt all about the creativity, it was about whether youd buy the garbage can or not, would this be something many people would buy?

I think that the garbage can is many times more creative than the footrest. We're not talking about conventional here; it isn't important that maybe the garbage will fall out as the can is rolling. The fact is that it's creative. I'm sorry, but in my opinion, the footrest is a little bland.
Put the question is why would you buy the rolling trash can?
same applies to the footrest too.
i'm crossing my legs and sitting on my bed while typing this.
chances are, if people want to relax, they'll lay down on their side then life their feet up.
If the contest was to make something creative the sphere trash was genuinely creative and plausible. From a designers perspective it's also interesting, you know "cool".
Your idea wasn't creative or cool, it's a pretty standard footrest. At least that's how I assume they see it too.

more useful place would be in a bank.
drop some bombs in there and no one will notice it rolling around nor it's contents.
even used to steal money, cops can be quick on their feet.
to be honest the rolling ball bin isnt a super dumb idea but the fact that its for garbage only is what makes it dumb.
if only there was another use for it...
Trashcan was a stupid idea. At least the foot rest had a real purpose. If you want a trash can, a regular bin would work fine. Kicking it around to move makes no sense, the trash would fly everywhere inside, what if you had sauce or something in there, it would go all over the bag or cause the trashcan itself to get dirty, and when you throw it away it would get all over your hands. A regular trash bin would suffice for a portal purpose, even a bag would work if you wanted somewhere to throw stuff away, like in a car.
And the things we put in the trash can, imagine all that trash food/ meat and dairy products rolling around your house

@BattleScar: The thrash sphere has a lid so thrash won't fall out. Also if you are lazy to get and throw away thrash, someone can just roll the sphere to you.

That footrest idea is kind of iffy.

1. gooey, liquidy stuff and other messy things that leak .... screw it. aint cleaning that up when it rolls all over the place, especially in MY DAMN CAR.

2. strong enuff material to prevent it from shattering from an average athlete's kick. too much money wasted to make one.

3. fragile trash becomes dangerous trash. empty compressed canisters, batteries, glass become severely problematic. I ain't letting that rolling bomb anywhere near my children.

seriously, ingenuity lacking intellect.
