Uni/college students, do you take full semesters?

I had been alternating between 4 and 5 classes, but I failed a course last semester. 5 classes, 3 labs, and bad profs is a bad mix on top of working and having a social life. I've decided that I'm going to stick to four for the rest of my degree. I figure an extra semester is worth my personal happiness and getting the marks I want.

I have one friend in engineering who takes full loads, but other than that, the only other people I know who take 5 courses are pre-med/nursing because they're required to.

i was full-time until senior year when i realized i didn't have to be cause i didn't qualify for financial aid anyways so i took like 7-10 units during my last two quarters

4 classes plus 1 lab, 2 days a week (M/W). It's nice having 5 days off in a week for work and whatnot, but it's a living hell for 2 days every week. I'll leave my apartment at 6:30AM and I won't come back until around 10:30PM.

At this point, I'm considering taking a few online GE courses in the summer since I need the extra schedule space to clear out the remaining 2 classes for my minor.

I've had to take 6 courses per semester since 1st year, besides this year (4th) where I only have 5 both semesters. That being said I have 6 still this semester cause one I failed last year. Yay engineering.

I usually take 4 classes, last semester I ended up taking 3 and I really liked that. But I need to take 4. =/

Just take your time, I'm currently a Senior at University of Maryland Baltimore County and my GPA has suffered so much from my parents pressuring me to take as many classes as I can and to finish as fast as possible. For the past 5 semesters I have been taking 18/19 credits which amounts to 6 classes per semester, I've had no life for the past two and half years and I'm really burned out from it. This Fall is my last semester and I only have to take two course, though if I could do it all again I'd definitely stick to 4/5 classes a semester

The number of classes don't matter just try for 12 units or a little above if it ends up doing so. I feel like I'm always at school for too many hours
and usually one of those 3 units is an online course.

that will very much depend on whether or not you can afford that extra semester....
If so, then by all means, for the sake of your physical and mental health.

For me, I've been told to never take more than 4 classes in a semester but also that it's near impossible to get through without taking 5 classes in at least 1 semester

Well, I always stay a full-time student. Still doing a lot of physics as a senior since I need higher level courses and such to prepare for graduate work.

I'm done with university, but I never once took a full semester. I wouldn't ever let work mar my free time.

2.5 days a week. the half day isn't part of my end results. I have things pretty easy, uni next year however.. things may change
@aznseal: alright cool, i'll definitely do that then, thanks. I'm a business student and already have a summer job lined up (full time) so i'll probably be skipping lectures unless i can get a weekend/night class. Most likely going to take an online though. Going to take one or two, haven't exactly decided yet. Considering taking two just in case something happens and i need to drop a course or something.
I'd try to get some core classes out of the way. The ones in summer are usually taught by graduate students who don't care. I had to take a core literature class during the summer and our entire grade was a test on Dante's Inferno and watching a movie and then writing about the symbolism behind it for participation points.
yeah, i'm taking 5 courses per term, on track to graduate in the expected 4 years. I might summer school/take an extra course next year though so i can have a lighter schedule in my 4th year.
I highly recommend a summer semester. I took classes one summer while doing research. The professors are usually really chill and the stress it relieves during the school year is amazing.

I took full loads my first 3 years. Right now i'm a senior and i'm taking the bare minimum and fluff classes (like basketball, bowling, wine tasting, etc).

I love the senior life.
