Jokes aside, the basil bowman community has have provided a lot of support and technical information for fellow bowmans in the past, but all of this seems to get lost behind the many new forum posts that don't answer your question somehow. Bowmaster - Strong on bosses and has significant funding depth. Mobbing is soso.
Marksman - Very strong on bosses. Funding depth is relatively shallow compared to others. Strong mobbing capability.
Wild Hunter - All rounder. Mounted mobbing makes it fun getting around and bossing DPS is better unmounted (no more hit box problems).
Mercedes - All rounder. Mobbing damage varies depending on how lazy you are.
Wind archer - Single target dps falls off but excellent mobbing capability.

@TheUltimatum: As far as I'm concerned, everything but the poll is up to date as of the Black Heaven: First Chapter patch. (the DPS breakdown might actually be referring in advance to even the buff coming later on to GMS).
Unfortunately the poll is out of my control. I cannot control the outcome and I'm not sure if I can delete old references (nor can I include time stamps on the results page).

XXXX is the class you really want to play but for w/e unncecesary reason you want Basilmarket to reassure you that your choice is the correct way to have fun.

@daringwaffle: Yes it does. WA's lack %ID in their skill set so they'll need to add extra to match up with say a Merc. While 50% E-resist ignore is useful, high end bosses have more PDR than physical resist and this is why they fall off on single target DPS rankings. But as like most classes, funding is the key decider.
WA's mobbing capacity is quite impressive even when unfunded so that may be a better selling point for your friend.
(May sound funny but I don't recommend playing/starting a Mercedes now as it is extremely difficult and painful to grind due to an unfinished patch which left us with mediocre mobbing capabilities)

my buddy wants to main A Merc or WA, preffered wa but its all about which is better to him now
@Elufu: Ahh I figured on 4 mobs it was the best mob ability even though in practice it's nearly impossible to do so.
And my bad didn't notice that.
@twopointonefour: WH(KMS) is on the list.
The list I gave was for a target of 6. Anything that targets less isn't really efficient (and for the case of Blaster.. it's dps will be halved to account for this). Unless you wanted to see how inefficient it is, I don't see the point of including this.
Whats WH's hit/s in kms? 20ish?
Also what about blaster+turret mobbing?

Don't underestimate WW or the fact that the bulk of your damage come from one button. Look at the list as a guide not a cemented ranking.

Mobbing DPS is so hard to calculate... as it varies depending on how many mobs you're hitting etc. As such i won't be posting this in the OP. Also take this listing with a grain of salt. (Very rough calculations and mob spawn patterns / map structure is more important when it comes to mobbing efficiency).

@ShiraokaJinja: To prepare for the KMS changes... it's probably best to lower it down to about 250% (or even 200%) and replace with att%. Nowadays you can get 150%boss without a single line of boss%pot lines (relatively easily) so....it's not your fault for having 300% boss as a Mercedes. (I used to have a training secondary arrow and a bossing arrow.. but now my training works better in bossing).
@Elufu: I think I messed up my pots, almost 300% boss
@ShiraokaJinja: The thing is.. as a Mercedes, it's not advised to gear yourself with weapons that have boss% potential lines. Nebs and set effects should be more than enough boss% for us. We're the complete opposite of WHs.
"Clean Gear": An issue is boss%-age doesn't boost Mercedes as much as other classes, because Mercedes' total damage% buffs stack additive with boss%-age.

Threads can't get stickied in sub-forums and the guides (that appear at the top of the subforum) don't even get looked at (mainly because they get outdated slowly). The main purpose of this thread is to merge all the resources onto one page as all the knowledge are very often hidden among thread replies that are, to be honest a lot harder to find than a simple google. Fortunately wiki pages can be edited by multiple users and if I ever go inactive, someone else can change it.
The other purpose is for me (and other people who sees this today) to just link this page instead of what I did [url=http://www.basilmarket.com/forum/2862617]here[/url].
However, as every other person here we're more than happy to answer genuine questions. Especially the funding/gearing questions.. they can't be facilitated by a thread like this.
