I have a bad habit of drawing in high quality and then having to drop the quality by 75% so that it can actually be uploaded haha woops.

@basschan: I wish I had photoshop, I feel like you're less limited there compared to Manga Studio but that's only my perception. You have so much knowledge of these things and it makes me cry inside hahaha I feel like such a noob but it's really awesome learning about these things. I find it difficult to make realistic line drawings but some people like kuvshinov ilya and you nail it. I know right I love adding small details to the skin, it makes it feel more unique I guess.

@fpgirl: Daaaaang, I wish my computer could handle 600dpi. I work mostly at 400dpi nowadays, and only in Manga Studio-- if I go to Photoshop, I HAVE to be in 300dpi, and you should never go lower than that. Modern day print resolution seems to be 600 now, or at least for more line-based styles. For painting, dpi doesn't matter THAT much, but it's definitely preferable to have a huge canvas to take advantage of brush textures, and also to have looser rendering. It's so cool to have a bunch of gestural brush strokes come together and become something nearly realistic!

@basschan: That's such a helpful video, thank you for showing me it. I understand now what I need to change and fix, hopefully my next drawing will look a lot cleaner and realistic.

Oh great! I actually never realized how big I was drawing until I had to upload it (it's at 600dpi most of the time). I'll keep doing that then haha.

Thanks a lot!

@uwotm9: I'll say. But she was frozen in ice like the Avatar. Or is my memory hazy, and that wasn't how it went?

You should check out this video by Clint Clearley. He does a rough paint-over/critique of a drawing that has the same "hard edge" issue that has been pointed out in your drawing. Basically, you want the form to look like it exists in three dimensions, rather than being a flat edge. If you're familiar with art terms, that would be known as "chiaroscuro."

Also, I wanted to say that it is imperative to work larger than print/upload resolution. Always work as big as you can! It's no bad habit, it's actually a really good one that is lost on a lot of people.

Good job either way, keep up the good work!

That wisp of hair totally accentuates her cheekbones.
I also really love the lighting, esp. how it lights up that beautifully detailed pauldron.
Soft as down.

@friedclams Can you ever NOT talk about food?

It's funny though, because you should celebrate with mango ice cream as that drawing is absolutely phenomenal.

I recommend doing the opposite. Drawing in low quality first (i.e. 1080p) then bumping up to a higher quality when you want to detail it. Looks nice, though the scattered details take away from the face.

@duzz: Original as in the high resolution drawing? You can find that here (I warn you, it's 27.1 MB): http://fav.me/d9dmnsv

Thank you all for your comments

@steffy: Would you be able to give me an example, I personally see it all as hard edges I suppose. Is it the back of the arm? I'll keep this in mind when I'm finishing another drawings, thanks!

@stevenman76: The stomach was the least worked on so I have no doubt it might look strange haha. Could you tell me more? Possibly the shading or is it too thin?

@consecrate: No this was just a freehand drawing of the face. Although, interesting that the face would resemble someone in real life haha!

@steffy: The only edge that bothers me is the stomach
