Religious Tolerance on Basilmarket
These are steps to keep religious flaming away from this forum
1. Don't make rude remarks about another person's religious preference.
2. Don't involve religion in your post, unless the thread directly asks for it.
3. Don't quote another persons religious post in order to prove it wrong (Or anything in that area)
By following these three rules we can eliminate one source of trolls and flaming on basil. Now to move on to the homosexual debate.
Edit by @klu180 : 4. Don't make jokes in religious threads or else someone will take the joke as an insult to their religion
Oh my, ignorant comments like this make me wonder why I still come on this site.
Didn't you say "Being gay is obviously a choice" in that other thread?
I don't know what's more ignorant, your comment, or the all Muslims are terrorist one.
I mean to be fair, 1+1=3 has basic implications in daily life whereas thinking some miraculous ark existed thousands of years ago is pretty harmless. Idk, I don't feel like getting into an argument with most people about it is really productive at all, especially when their beliefs don't really concern me. Why should I care, really?
If someone's beliefs are truly harmless, then I have no problem with it.
Unfortunately that's not always the case, people's (wrong) beliefs are often times the foundation for their political and social beliefs. And when you get millions of people believing in the same (wrong) doctrines and associating themselves with an organized religion that promotes certain moral values based on their wrong beliefs, then that's a very big problem to me.
This video explains my view well in like 10 seconds, listen from 0:40 - 1:00 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O_SFlwjlkiE
He talks about how atheists are against belief without evidence, and goes on to say "but even these non-evidence based beliefs wouldn't be a problem if they didn't influence societal opinions and attitudes which can negatively affect public policy in our political discourse. With that being said it should be noted that not all atheists have qualms with other people's religiosity, but many do take issue with it for the very reasons I detailed moments ago."
im a ssbbw
Depends, if someone wants to deny evolution, deny the big bang, assert Noah made an ark that housed two of every animal, deny the science of planetary formation and assert God created the Earth, etc.
Then I'm going to correct their delusions, you would have to be a horrible person not to at least try helping such misinformed people.
Likewise, if someone thinks 1+1 is 3, I'm not going to refrain from correcting them because I want to "respect their beliefs", that is BS. While spirituality can be personal, talking about religion is public intellectual property that anyone one in a free nation can discuss and debate, if you want to live in a religion-run theocracy move to Saudi Arabia and get off Basil.
Why don't you make up your mind already? Gosh.
Muslims like exploding and stoning people.
Jews are stupid for not eating bacon.
Christians are retarded and like to ignore science.
Buddhists have too many Asians.
Atheists are pricks, but at least they're being real.

How so?
I hate everyone that's doesn't share my beliefs, race, gender, physical features, and mental capacity.
You forgot the last rule: Don't make religious threads. Thus, if all the rules are followed, then religion will never be discussed. Success!
