If you could change maple...

what would you do?

More co-op orientated gameplay.

Overhual of quest to make them rewarding and meaningful instead of 100% pointless and uneventful. Co-op functionality where doing quests together gives better rewards and EXP/fame, etc. Also a new alternative to gaining levels instead of hur dur SDH to 250. Give me a reason to play Maple in its entirety instead of just literally chilling in 2 maps being Henesys and SDH. Is there anything we can do besides dailies and train on 2x? Tell me.

Last time I played guilds weren't as sought after, organized, and overall better than it is now, but I believe it can still use some changes. Such things would include unique skills given to members depending on rank, ability to take over towns for a week and sell items in the pot shop to include potions, and random assortments of quest items(if the quests overhaul is a thing) and the sort, nothing you'd see in the FM. All members of current guild benefit from payments more given to specific ranks. Being near or around guildies giving certain buffs.

BRING BACK LHC. OR a a map similar to LHC. I've played the game since the dexless sin days but LHC along with CWKPQ were my favorite and most memorable parts of Maple Story. Give me mobs that take more than one shot to kill. Give me a system where playing with others or partying with others benefits me greatly. Give me the chance to kill normal mobs with other people at the same time. Let me rush a mob of monsters all the way to the left or right and have everyone mosh pit them when I bring em over.

Rewarding and social party quests. Instead of going in a PQ just to get to a place to grind(R&J) can we complete a Party Quests together? I would change it so communication is key to completing a PQ. Give me that.

What would you do?

@trumpet205: Quests desperately need a revamp. Doing them in this game is not even near useless, it IS useless. I'd enjoy going around different worlds like Aquaworld, Ludibrium, Leafre, and the such to enjoy different BGMs and atmosphere while I play.

PQ's should differ from unique and rare items, EXP, or fame. It would give incentive to finish them. Imo, Ludi PQ was the best PQ that ever existed because it required the help of every member of the party. If PQ's can be revamped to that I would be really happy.

I myself never got into professions because at the time I did have enough money to just buy stuff(don't anymore). I remember hunting specific monsters to get the AB ring recipe just to sell the pure recipe itself for 300m or something. Another way to indirectly revamp Professions would be to give these required drops to out of the way and powerful monsters. Killing mobs not just for EXP is pretty cool.

Boss revamp. Yes. Zak is a turn in a good direction. But bosses like Papulatus, Balrog, and the non-existent Pianus desperately need changes. How laughable is it to solo HT of any difficulty now. It's borderline insulting to old school players. Even Pink Bean who was previously impossible for the longest time is now a joke.

Yeah. Codex revamp is actually a terrific idea. Give us a reason to go even beyond what the game offers.

@minchuzuk3: I agree with you here. I'd bring back large boss runs that require specific classes. Horntail was a very good one upon it's release. You basically needed a squad of 15+ high level people to even attempt it, and even then you needed very specific classes. You needed a party of nightlords and bowmasters to deal heavy damage. You needed shadowers and warriors to act as bait for horntail's seduce ( and skilled bishops to heal them). Dark knights were also needed to provide hyperbody for every party so that they could survive horntail's heavy damage. The list goes on. Even then, it could take hours to defeat it. Would be fun if they could bring something like that back

I think that Nexon has wired the game to the point of no return. Challenging content would be fruitless towards the collaboration aspect so long as the max damage is at 50mil (since Nexon would most likely account for that in the making of new content), which would be pretty unfair to players who are nowhere near it. If there were a few things I would change, it would be the damage cap, and the rewards NX could get you. As of now, the game seems more like a collect-it-all, with the routinely things to do once you hit level 200.

@endurance: Reboot server, which is part of Reboot update, doesn't allow trading. You can buy pets and cubes with mesoes on the Reboot server.

i wouldn't change the current game instead i'd open a brand new server that doesn't allow the use of cash shop, no potentials, no bigbang ui, no uncapped damage, no nx outfits, limited maps, and no free market, no 2x exp, certain maps would have pvp, certain maps would have increased damage from monsters, etc

* Revamp all the quests in the game.
Quests should be rewarding and a viable mean of leveling up. People don't do them because it isn't rewarding.

* Revamp all party quests.
Something is seriously wrong if people would just grind instead of actually completing RnJ PQ.

* Revamp profession system.
Take smithing for example, what else are you going to craft besides cubes? Maybe you'll craft Giant Bullet if you are a Corsair or Throwing Stars if you are a thief, but that's it. Most of the stuff on there isn't worth crafting.

* Revamp bosses
Let's be honest, when was the last time people fought Papulatus or Balrog (not Dojo one, but the real deal)? There are actually a lot of bosses in game there were being neglected. The revamp on Zakum is a start, and should also cover these neglected bosses. Some form of party bonus should be added to encourage people to boss together (not just a mule in the cases like CRA).

* Revamp codex
It needs to have better set bonus. It is a joke that only two sets are worth completing, Leafre and Henesys Ruin. Furthermore it is a joke that monsters from new area like Rein Strait don't drop its monster card.

Actually Nexon did give an alternative to training at sh, Haven was added (which gives more exp than sh). Yet no one uses It, they'd rather fight over sdh channels during 2x.
