im worried im infertile - how to bring this up w a doctor?
i'm nowhere near wanting kids/trying to conceive but it's a very real concern for me, i have a lot of red flags
i'm set to see a gyn next week and i want to ask about this but i dont know how to bring it up, or what to do about it, or if its even worth bringing up at this point in my life
have you or anyone you know ever been tested for infertility? what was the process like?

afaik they won't do testing unless you have a history of 3+ miscarriages, or have been trying to conceive for at least a year without results. I had 3 MCs and my doctor still didn't do testing on my 4th pregnancy, which fortunately has carried to nearly term.
Just ask your gyn. Doctors are there for any medical reason, sometimes even mental. If they can't help you, then they'll refer you to someone who can. So don't worry and just ask away.
@spiritbag: thats what i figured + why i asked if its worth bringing up when not actively trying to conceive but i'd really like to know..
You're asking Basil? A place where it's 95% guys or young girls
Just get tested if you can. Don't be afraid to ask.
You generally don't get tested unless you are actually trying to get pregnant and having trouble.
When i had a llump on my peepee and i ewent to the doctors i just laid down got some bloods done
It wasnt that awkward

had to look up images, and holy crap those things can get big. hope it wasnt too bad lol
^ Yup, Be straight forward They're there to help answer all your questions, even if it could be disgusting or embarrassing.
I'm worried about the same thing too but since you're not planning to have children any time soon, you don't have to worry just yet.
My friends (Who were ttc-ing, are pregnant or have children) say that you should try for a year before seeing a specialist unless you're over 35.
You ask straight forwardly
@xylyls: i was in the hospital yesterday for ovarian cysts, so that's why it's on my mind, that plus family history of miscarriages and cervical and breast cancers, plus my medical history including lots of ct scans (radiation) and medications that can mess with fertility, plus a history of benign breast tumors, irregular periods and i'm a smoker. so those are why i think it's a possibility

i'm just scared about the process of being tested, i guess, and i dont know if i sould get tested so early in life when im not actively trying to conceive[/quote]
what makes you even think you're infertile? is this something that women even normally thing of

just straight up ask them. they're trained to respond to these questions and you asking should come as no surprise to them. if it's a concern of yours, it's absolutely worth bringing up. don't worry about bothering your doctor.
Simply asking directly and giving your reasons for your concerns is all it takes. speak honestly with the person all up in yo snizz bizz.
Surely a quick Google search would yield more helpful resources.
But good luck, bud. Don't worry -- lots of people don't want kids.
Hope none of you guys are playing on a mac on your lap. Cause that's a quick way to kill your sperm lol.
honesty is the best policy
You don't want kids? I dont get it.
