@stevenman76: Yea I dont know why but Speed 1 is INSANE for paladins which typically means its much easier to achieve than 2H.

@Kazzooey: Yea I remember in commerci I had mpe pot, booster, and si on and I was hitting 2-4 blasts in the time that I would hit 1 with just booster

You do realize that there's no such thing as a speed cap anymore right? My Battlemage is at -2 Attack Speed all the time with Green Potion lol.

If you have equal equips, 2H + Rosario is SLIGHTLY better. Although shields can be scrolled and are always faster than 2H. Maces only give 5% Defense Ignore and swords give +10% Max Crit so swords are typically the best choice all around. Though 2HS are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more expensive than 1HS. Your best bet is 1H + Shield.

Also a neat little bit I noticed, when breaking speed cap, when you hit 1 or 0 Speed on a Pally (Can't remember which it was) Your speed increases DRASTICALLY. I was on Green Pot + SI and holy crap that was so much faster than just Green Pot. I think being able to hit 1 Speed earlier than 2H is a huge advvantage imo.

2h sword + rosary provides the highest damage a paladin can get, the greater multiplier outweighs the speed increase, though the difference is somewhat minimal (the difference in DPS is in the single digit %'s for all situations), if you hit cap damage the story is different, but it is extremely difficult for a 1h + shield paladin (hell, anyone really) to consistently hit 50 million lines.

and yes rosary activates shield mastery, I don't mean to be rude but it's been months since the RED update, people need to get their facts straight.

1h sword + shield is still a viable choice and not really behind 2h + rosary much at all, if aesthetics is important to you then go for it. I'm one of those people currently in the middle of switching from 2h to 1h, because for me Khanjar looks too good to pass up. If you're worried about power, don't be, if you're funded (I use this loosely since there are many ways to gain power) then it won't really matter if you're using 2h or 1h since you'll be dealing insane amounts of damage anyway.

Pre-red, 1h sword + shield
Post-red 2h sword + secondary
You now get shield mastery with secondary weapon since red

From what I've seen, a secondary weapon also activates shield mastery. Don't ask me why o.O

it seems as tho 1h sword+shield is your best option
you get 10% max crit damage, compared to 5%pdr from a mace

1h is definitely faster atk speed than 2h, which is huge, and you get a shield, activating shield mastery, which is super important for that 40% status resist boost
