Maple on Windows 8.1
Hello, so recently my Windows 7 laptop broke and I've been looking into using BootCamp on my MacBook for Maplestory and Mabinogi. I plan to use Windows 8.1 and I was wondering if anyone has had any problems with running the Maple/Mab? I've been reading forum posts from the past and a lot of them seem to be outdated. I was hoping to see if anyone knows if Nexon has addressed/fixed any problem with Windows 8.1? Thank you!

@mikul: Well in my case, I barely have my pets out anymore due to the lag (even having pet loot off, they lag me ) but i still lag due t the massive amount of drops. I guess my laptop is just old.

Also currently, according to Nexon, there is a lag going on with high populated maps such a Stronghold, also with certain damage skins, and if there are too many drops on the floor. I forget what else but unsure if it's a Win 8/8.1 issue.
I believe that lag issue is with the amount of pets trying to loot the items all at once. That's been going on for a while now though. Thanks!
I'm running on Windows 8.1 64-bit. I never had a lag issue in Gollux with Win 8 just the sudden drop of frame rate but I could move easily. Other than that, I never had an issue with compatibility with 8.1 and Maplestory.
Well except one time that since Windows 8/8.1 would sometimes not do a full shut down. Reason why I brought this up is because Maple would sometimes glitch and any characters that can glide (Evan, Demon) after a double jump would stay gliding until you land, won't be able to mine/harvest anything, can't see yellow text, get stuck in cutscenes, etc etc. To fix the glitch, you would just restart the computer and it would be gone. The issue with Win 8/8.1 that it does not do a full shut down instead it does a hybrid boot instead, some sort of hibernation feature (to make the OS seem faster). It's an easy fix and you can disable the hybrid boot if you want. The glitch happens rarely if not occasionally so let's hope you don't have to deal with it.

I'm also running on Windows 8.1 64-Bit (Surface Pro 3) and the only issue I have is when I'm dealing with 2 or more KS'ers and it lags really bad all of a sudden o-o
I run on 8.1 64-bit without any issues o:
You should be fine with Windows 8.1 just make it up to date and install your graphics driver correctly.
Edit: Maple Runs very good on Windows 8 and Windows 8.1
Can just lower the MS graphics to low and no lag at all.
It had nothing to do with graphics. It was just one of the issues that Win 8 had back then.

no problems wit 8.1 and ms
The only issue i had with playing maplestory on Windows 8.1 is playing it in full screen. Sometimes my computer will restart. So just play it in a smaller window and you should be fine
8.1 64 works just fine, a lot of the lag comes from pet loot and etc drops, also background applications and unoptimized (heavily fragmented) hdd, cpu and mem utilization high %, etc. Get like 6 gig of ram and you'll be fine. Also get a pc bootcamp is only gonna lower the fps.
Thank you for the feedback. I had lag issues with the Gollux area too, even with Windows 7 on my old computer. Good to know I wasn't the only one haha. Much appreciated!
Sometimes when running on windows 8 i get glitched. Like cant get past gollux cut scene or herb/mine. But if you just fully shutdown your computer it should fix it.
I use 8.1 and I don't suffer any issues besides lag, but pretty sure it's my computer having many other programs running in the background.
I never encountered any problem with Windows 8 and 8.1 when playing maple. If this answer does not convince you. just use windows 7 instead. if it aint broken, dont fix it.
Windows 8 used to mega lag at the gollux labyrinth, but it was fixed when I upgraded to 8.1.
I've heard of issues in the past with windows 8, but I'm pretty sure said problems have been fixed
you should have no issues at all
