How many hours a week do you guys work?
How many hours a week do you guys work? and where? Are you guys happy with your wage? How tiring is it to work the number of hours you work? I'm applying for part-time jobs sometime this week and I was curious. The maximum hours for a high school student for a lot of places is 28 hours in Ontario. I was wondering how many hours i should say i want to work.
Thanks

@NonSonoFronz: Ouch, rehearsal sounds like a huge time suck; I can see how someone of your circumstance wouldn't be able to fit in a job. For me though, it was all about giving up sleep. Often times, I got only 2-4 hours of sleep a night. So many people quit too easily: they crave sleep more than they do success. You can't get anything done when you're asleep. I studied Food Science/Technology with Health and Chemistry minors and managed to graduate with a 3.8. Raised in a single parent household, I had to do what I could to ensure my success and get my family out of our situation.
40 at minimum, but i'm not in school.
@TaintedZero: How the hell do you find that kind of time? I physically cannot fit in work while maintaining above a 3.5 GPA.
I'm a Chemistry and Dramatic Art double major. So I'm forced to spend my mornings in class, then my afternoons in lab, then my nights in rehearsal and studying and doing assignments.
I barely have enough time to finish all of my assignments as it is let alone find time to work. I could work on the weekends but those are days where I'm usually in rehearsal for 12+ hours a day.
25-30 (usually 28) hours at one job, 15 at another cause im still training but hopefully that'll be closer to 25 soon
I'm a senior in high school, and I get out of school before 1:00pm every day, but I still only get like 15 hours a week on average. I've worked at the same grocery store since the beginning of junior year but it seems like my hours have been going down, because for a while I was really busy.
I think I get like the 2nd least amount of hours compared to the other part-time people in my position.

I worked 50 hrs/wk and went to school full time while getting my BS and still had time here and there for a social life. It's all about budgeting your time. Even at the med school level, I've got friends pulling 30+ hr work weeks. I don't think the "college student" excuse is ever a valid one, unless you have a hideous sporadic class schedule that employers will have a hard time giving you hours for. If anything you've now got some sort of work experience that other graduates won't be able to match coming out of school. "There is always somebody out there working harder than you and trying to take what's yours."
Nowadays I work ~40hrs/wk, but 60+ with recent overtime.
Roughly 55 hours a week. Wage is salary and sucks but i have amazing benefits. If we are doing combat training its roughly 120 hours a week.

I know the feeling..
25-27 hours a week
avg 5.5 hours mon, tues, thurs, and fri
~3 hours on sat
i'm also a university student so it gets hard at times but i still manage to get good grades. the wage is great.
I only work ~20 hours a week as a cashier right now cause hours are decided by seniority...
A lot of places will have an application form for you to fill out when you'll be available for each day so I'd say plan out ahead how long you'll be willing to work each day and if it'll be enough to do other things like school work, extra-curricular activities, having a social life. When I was in high-school I worked 24-28 hours each week and found it tiring commuting to work right after school and getting home late every day. Money was worth it though cause I could go out to eat LOL.
Out of curiosity, for those still at uni/college, do you guys still have much time for extra-curriculars?
43 hours a week.
Around 35 to 40 hours
30 hours a week, $10 /hr.
It gets pretty tiring since I'm a full-time college student but the pay is great and I'm able to manage my classes and grades pretty well.
Nothing better than depositing $1,000 each month and just seeing the numbers rise in your bank account. <3
40+/hrs a week and the moneys decent
Working 30ish hours a week at Walmart while going to college. No I a m not happy with the pay but it is enough to pay for my expenses. I can't wait to graduate.
I try to work at least 25 hours a week every week. I work at a movie theatre
im quitting but i was doing like 8 hours a week for $14 an hour. it was enough to pay for school stuff
Its so weird to see people get in so many hours, last semester i had 32 hours of work+school, not including homework (for some single assignments it could take up to 10 hours over a weekend lol)...literally a handful of people in my year are working right now because the school load is crazy
Anywhere between 35-50 hrs a week. I work full time as a Pharmacy Tech at CVS.
anytime between 5-20 hours a week as a teaching assistant. money's alright.
I don't have time to work as a college student.
30 to 40 hours a week give or take.
8 at Kumon. Sucks, but money. Not allowed to work more than this, due to parentals.
Thirty-seven and a half because of some loop-hole or something that means they don't have to pay me for lunch.
I'm on a co-op term at the moment though, so it isn't conflicting with school.
im at 48 hours a week.
