Why doesnt Maplestory have PvP content?
What about Runescape? In all eras of Runescape, there was PvP content of some sort. I'm not a true PKer but being real honest, introducing the Wilderness to Maplestory would make me return to this game. Why isn't there any Pking going on in Maplestory? Think about it. If Runescape closes the wilderness or duel arena or castle wars or soul wars for even 24 hours for "maintenance", I bet at least a noticeable percentage of players would quit.
Why don't Maplestory introduce PvP content? I remember out-DPSing players back in 2012 PvP with as much as triple my damage range when I did Pking. So what's wrong with having PvP in MS? Why is it all just boss or a lot of click intensive grinding for no money? Why can't we have PvM money maker methods out here? Why is every practically good money maker merchanting only? What about Runescape for example? There are so many fast ways to make money other than merching. Anyways, going to stay on topic but can we really try to add in some PvP content?

Even though pvp was completely imbalanced I still had a lot of fun with it. I still have the full larson challengers set on my battle mage. As for the runescape part Runescapes pvp makes you drop everything or nearly everything on death so something like that would never be accepted. The new pvp in kms looks alright though. And if youve tried the new dance dance revolution game in star planet theres quite a few hackers in it and you barely get anything when you finish so not wurf.
They used to have PvP but it was poorly balanced + Battle Equipment made it unfun (Because it made everyone just 1 shot each other so it just became a battle of who can throw out their ultimates first). Mages dominated the meta and every other class except Cannoneer/Paladin/Shadower were unviable.
Then Nexon tried to revamp it, but it was WAYY worse than before because potential affected your damage, so PvP just turned into P2W.
Ahhh I remember KIZO's tournament, my friend Jimmy got second
It was a failure when we had it before. Insanely unbalanced. MapleStory isn't ment for PVP.
How was it a failure? It was ass loads of fun even with the imbalances. And DS. Bishop wasn't nearly as bad as everyone made them out to be. I wrecked them with all of my characters. The only reason they were so hated was because of how popular they were at the time Since bishops were in demand back then and DS just came out. Pvp was not a failure until people started to get full 130 sets And kill everyone in 1 hit.
Idk... If they just nerfed everyone to same range, same stats, etc. So it just comes down to skills in running and attacking.
Now imagine playing as a Hayato or Zero with perfect controls. GAME DESTROYED <3
And reflect effect gets removed. Last time PvP was still around, Heros and DS just stayed there killing people just with reflect.. It was like really? Stupid as hell.
I play Runescape and castle wars is dead. It's not even nearly as active as it was years ago. Also, Maplestory had PvP a few years back, but it was crazy unbalanced. Despite that, I still kinda enjoyed playing it. But PvP in Maple just doesn't really look that great
You havent been playing long enough to know that there was a PVP prior to the RED update, and that it was completely unfair.
Granted, it did give some gnarly equips.
The huge class imbalance problem would be "fixed" by making the classes even more disgustingly similar than they already are. I'll pass thanks.
@puretppc: I fully agree. I loved pvp, but I could see how easily I was killing people (one match someone called me a hacker because I had like 2x the score of 2nd place on my night lord). Definitely not balanced. I wouldn't mind seeing more non grinding/merching things in-game. star-planet was a nice addition, but a lot of people got bored of that rather quickly. Maybe if it leveled people up playing the mini-games, or if the gm's could hold tournaments with meso/item prizes for things like one card or monsteropoly. Not sure what other ideas they'd be willing to implement into the game so far into it's lifespan.

And they have a new version of it in kms atm. We should be getting it real soon. It's entirely different, with set classes and a level up system in each match but it's still pvp
@ox0Shad0w0xo: You're actually right. There is a huge imbalance between classes. Btw, I was actually unfunded yet I was still able to out DPS a lot of people in MS pvp. I think though, Maplestory needs more variety in gaming activity than just boss, grind or merch.
@puretppc To touch on a few finer points regarding pvp. We had 2 different versions of pvp a few years back. It was fun, but as was said, it was far too imbalanced. The problem Nexon will always have is they made way too many classes for anything like that to be balanced. Certain classes have clear advantages over the rest and the gap between the funded and unfunded is far too large to ever be fixed. I think it's because they waited so long to think about pvp (shouldn't have taken 6-7 years to add a pvp system into a mmo). Had they stopped at explorers and made each class have their own unique strengths and weaknesses like a traditional rpg then we would have no problem getting a good pvp system going.
@Sammi I remember that tourney. We lost some strong guildies to that tourney because Nexon takes forever with world transfers and they just stayed in scania rather than go through the hassle again lol.
@LlamaKing Because that's Nexon Logic. Rather than keep it open while they work on improving it, they remove content until the update is released. Same backwards logic with all the closed off areas.
Boss arena is the closest thing we've had to pvp for a while, there's also something on the way (assuming we get it) that KMS got recently which is basically a pvp pq.
Same, as soon as Tempest hit and let my hopes down with Grand Battle I just quit until TB came and I only trained it during 2x, then quit for good once it was lv170 cause I just wanted the whale.
Ah, also town lag, town lag made me quit.
Ugh so many things should've made me quit, but I had nothing better to do or couldn't come up with anything to do. TRAPPED. </3
I didn't stay in town a lot so it wasn't that bad for me, but event map made me want to flip my laptop into the bathtub.
I don't know why Nexon removed PvP. Yes, it was unbalanced, but it was better than no PvP at all. Bringing back PvP would allow players to focus on something other than bossing, leveling, and merching.
And that's the "why we don't have a PvP mode" explanation, now for why we don't have open world PK: Nexon is still delusional and still thinks the target audience for this game is 12 year old kids, like 12 year old kids can afford the thousands of dollars you need to be good at bossing.

That was the highlight of Maple for me...
I remember KIZO hosted a huge tournie and gave people who wanted to participate in other worlds world transfer coupons (to and back).
Think it's time for you to find a new game buddy. No offense but maple really doesn't seem like your cup of tea.
MapleStory did have PvP before. Despite its short coming I loved it. I look forward to its return in Star Planet if we get exactly what KMS got.
It was a failure when we had it before. Insanely unbalanced. MapleStory isn't ment for PVP.
we had it at one point but certain classes would destroy others. bishop would heal and use gen. now pretty much al classes have an ult so it would also be annoying. you can just put a no ult area but then a class like DS/DA would beat everyone.
