Awesome Movies
Hey guys, I really want to watch a good movie. Generally I like:
1. Depressing movies
2. Interlocking stories
3. Themes about death, hope, sex, drugs, lust
4. A good story line (yes, this means no Twilight)
Do you have any suggestions for me?
Here's some that I've really enjoyed...
1. Leon the Professional
2. The Lives of Others
3. Mysterious Skin
4. A Single Man
5. The Hedgehog
6. Trainspotting
7. Requiem for a Dream
8. Misery
9. The Boy in the Striped Pajamas
10. Pan's Labyrinth
11. The Hours
12. The Fall
all of your movie needs would be fulfilled by Requiem for a Dream...my second favorite movie ever
edit:whoops didnt read entire post
edit #2: Natural Born Killers hands down
Requiem for a Dream is amazing and I think it is one of my top five movies. Which is your first? I started to watch Natural Born Killers but I couldn't get into it.
Les Miserables
The Hunger Games ? o:
I'll check it out.
I have seen Oldboy and I'm looking forward to 2013 remake of the film.
On a side note, I'm actually really glad I asked Basil a question for once.
I for one am not looking forward to the remake, Spike Lee directing...his last half decent film was over 10 years ago.
Thanks for reminding me that I wanted to watch that. Gonna do so shortly.
Oh it was in the original post. Oh well just kinda scanned and saw it.
And OP I may edit later, but I'm really not in a think and recall mood to list out movies. Even though our tastes are probably similar. Off the top of my head, maybe check out Hesher if you haven't. I love that movie.
If you have not seen it I highly recommend Oldboy.
Similarly you might like the Fall.
The Incredible Hulk was based on my sex life.
@SirJayGatsby: Np. Hope you like the two you haven't seen yet.
And me too, that's probably why I was disappointed in the movie adaptation.. I had really, reaally high expectations given that the book was good. I guess that just sets me up for disappointment, though. But, I'll have to agree with you about Leonardo DiCaprio. He's a really good-looking guy, haha.
Lol, did you like The Great Gatsby? I personally hated it.
OT: Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind was pretty depressing/had a good story line.
Seeking a Friend for the End of the World was surprisingly depressing in a good way, if that makes sense..
Shawshank Redemption has a really good storyline and is one of my favorites. A central theme is hope, as you listed as one of your requirements lol.
Perks of Being a Wallflower is kinda depressing but also is a feel-good movie..
I'll add more later
I'm going to watch these movies, thanks for the suggestions. I have seen Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and it was good. The second movie you listed I have yet to see, will watch it tonight or tomorrow morning, Shawshank Redemption I've seen (loved), Perks of Being a Wallflower someone recommended but I'm going to watch it soon.
P.S., I preferred the book to the movie but I think the movie was pretty good. Then again, I like DiCaprio's face so I'm biased.
Life is beautiful.
Hmm, based on your themes I'd recommend:
Schindler's List
United 93
The Stoning of Soraya M.
The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford
The Pianist
The Road
4 Months, 3 Weeks & 2 Days
Children of Men
project X has most i think . .
