Aran

Dat tempest nerf

Ok so now that im unhellbanned i can post things freely and I have to ask why did they nerf tempest it maybe the most balanced (overpowered for a reason) mobbing attack aran has, i dont get why they would even nerf aran in any way. Its not like there's a class that can spam a full map attack with no penalty whatsoever luminous cough *

What are your thoughts i personally dislike this idea, wonder if they could revert it later if enough of us complain <3 <3 <3

@godninja4ever @Feeling well the nerf is bad and truthfully trading our best mobbing skill for a hefty buff maybe not so good for our overal enjoyment but it makes tempest go back to how it was when hypers came out so it isnt THAT much of a set back and to all those saying tempest isnt realy good the way it currently is picture this your best skill ,wether it be 1on1 or a mobbing skill, and it gets a cool down. Ya you get a hefty buff to ur range in compensation but your overall gameplay is crippled thats how it is for our tempest skill. I mean we do have other great skills and attacks but an ultimate will always remain an ultimate.

@godninja4ever: if you read what I wrote, you would notice that I was never particularly happy about us becoming so reliant on a single skill.
"I didn't like the fact that Tempest replaced all our other skills when it came to training."
I"m glad it's so effective, and therefore I use it when I train, but I've never been happy that it took away from our play-style.
How exactly did it get nerfed? Can someone quote the patch notes?
I don't have a link on me right now, but it works like this now :
Each time you use it, a debuff is applied for a certain number of seconds. Each time you use it within this debuff, the amount of combos it uses doubles from the last time.
So the first time it will cost 50 combos, then 100, then 200, then 400, etc.

I'm both happy and sad about the nerf.
I didn't like the fact that Tempest replaced all our other skills when it came to training. It made us just like a Luminous... stand in 1 spot and spam Reflection. (tempest in this case)
If I wanted that play-style, I could have picked from a lot of other classes. It made training easy, but also very boring and mundane.

However, obviously, it also makes me a bit upset because Tempest put us above a lot of other classes when it came to mobbing.
Clearing the whole HoH map in 1 skill is awesome, and I think it adds to our (should-be) title of mobbing king, like we originally were.
We trade this off for better bossing DPM, but this makes us really rather average. Not one of the best mobbers anymore, and certainly still not the best bosser.
I'm not sure if it was a fair tradeoff, but oh well. Need to live with it.

How is that even fair compared to luminous and demon cry
Im not too mad about the nerf its just were mobbers and what logic states that nerfing the best mobbing skill is good for a mobbing class in any way?
You're a melee mobber. Imo, you should have a skill that pulls all monsters towards you while attacking. On top of that, it should pull monsters through ledges so I can kill those pesky hackers standing on a safe ledge.
Oh nooooo, now you actually have to move around to kill monsters like every other class in the game.. anything but that.. oh nooooooo.

Stop being lazy -.- ..if i was an aran and they increased my damage for tempest nerf then so be it, i'd be happy.
Exactly. I remembered using it before Hypers it was used for easier killing on mobs and used on bosses like Heaven's Hammer. The fact that Tempest is used as the only means to kill mobs and not your other skills is definitely unwarrior-like. Not to mention, just standing around spamming Tempest, don't we look a bit suspect here? Like we're hacking?

If tempest was an actual damage skill I would understand it, but seeing as its only use is to clear maps which contain mobs that can already be 1hkoed or a skill that just hits a ton of mobs I can't justify this nerf at all.

I would say unless it did around 1500% per hit it wouldn't really be justified to nerf it, (1500%X5)/1.5=3333%/s not a bad amount of damage seeing that FBBB will do around 5272%/s after this patch.
to be honest i dont feel like there is a point to tempest anymore if there is truly a cooldown. (Havent been on)
There being a cooldown says they want us to use tempest for the 1-hit kill status of the monsters.
Well.. I sweep a map of monsters in the same amount of time it would to sweep them out with 1 hit kill status. Maybe even faster since tempest takes a few seconds to cast

AND to add on, most high level maps wont allow you to freeze the monsters with tempest, leaving only damage. And the damage pretty much sucks. Maybe with the hypers and NO cooldown it might be a viable option, but still not my slice of cake.
mostly all mobs on twilight perion and henesys were vulnerable to tempest, maps over there are way too big ti kill fasther then tempest spam, so yeah the nerf sucks
spamming a full map skill that insta-kills mobs is just toxic gameplay
but I will miss having an aran soloing DI for me
Doing dumb kill quests or item quests for events will be even more of a chore now.

I remember when genesis got a cd. We all qq'd but look what happened a few years down the line. When genesis is on cd, you get to spam, oh what's that skill that no one ever uses.... OH YAH! Big Bang with out charging it. Hmmm. I smell something fishy. Genesis gets cd in Big Bang patch. Red patch comes along, and now when genesis is on cd, Big Bang skill is spammable with no charge. o.o o.o o.o
Overall damage < Map killing capabilities.
Though we DID need that damage increase, nerfing our tempest like that really isn't a fair trade.
It was for the best. It was a full map ultimate that could wipe out mobs with ease, even with no funding it was an overly effective mobbing effect. At least skills like Demon Cry and Reflection is affected by your damage range. Either remove the ability to kill enemies with a 2nd tempest or do what they did.
Well, Beyonder Blade and Final Blow received a huge increase in damage. So your overall damage increases.
Also, they blocked the creation of Arans in KMS, so expect a huge overhaul of a revamp! hopefully for the better. <3
