Bitten by a bee?

Can bees bite you? I was walking and I felt something in my hair so I grabbed it thinking it was like a leaf that fell on my hair while walking. Then I realize it was an insect like a bee or something that must have flew into my hair. I felt a sharp pain on my finger as soon as I grabbed it and took it out of my hair and I quickly released it. Now my finger hurts but there was no stinger or anything so I don't think it was a sting, there was just a sharp pain initially.

Bees sting, wasps bite.
Bees usually leave a stinger in you, wasps don't.

@powerguy121 Yeah, bees can only sting once, wasps can keep on biting you until you kill them or they get tired of it.

I'm pretty sure bees are one shot wonders and wasps bite. I'm not completely sure though. It's one of the two though.

I guess the stinger may have fallen off when your finger jerked back from the pain.
Depend on what kind of bee it was, the toxin in the stinger may be neutralized by acids (your saliva may work) or by bases (i.e. soaps)
