Its funny how much of my teenage/HS years I spent here

I used to literally go on this site everyday haha. Not many users I still recognise from when I joined (2010), but everyone's getting older and moved on I guess. The rules also used to be so much stricter, I've noticed how much more lax it is now, seems like the mods and admin don't really care anymore. There isn't even a mod list anymore, so idk if they're still around, but I used to get suspended and account deleted so often it wasn't funny. The community here was a lot more active back then, but so was Maple's, they've both gone downhill rapidly. But yeah I miss those days when I'd just play Maple, browse Basil, and not worry about life. To the young kids here, enjoy your childhood while you can, because the responsibilities and stresses of being an adult are gonna hit you like a train. Uni, work, relationships etc... Haven't posted here in a while so hey.

Basil is so different now. I remember the old times where you were suspended for 7 days for looking at a mod wrong LOL.

@youonlyliveonce: I'm a random lurker that makes threads from time to time.
I did remember you, though. If I recall correctly, you left after the mods kept banning you incessantly.

I wonder how much longer we all gonna wonder here...

I'm like imagining a bunch of 30-50 year olds of all kinds posting threads about real adult stuff like marriage, children, etc. I mean I never expected myself to continue to roam around basil in college. Habits gonna die hard.

It's my first post in ages. They changed the site completely and had me input my maplestory character (which I haven't played since 2007).

@ashleyattacked tbh the last time I played maple actively was 2010 so I can't really compare lol. I've only really stuck to basil since then.

@zigen: Pre BB was Maple at its best.

I think Maple hit its height with the release of 4th job. Everything has been slowly downhill since then.

I was lvl 127 training at gobies when 4th job first came out.

2010 was fun times. Glad I stuck with the site despite it going to the dump, I met my best friend here so that was pretty lucky

@voidwreck: You'd be surprised how many people are still playing but using obscure new igns...

@ashleyattacked: True. But most people left. I tried so hard to get my account back. I was literally trying for over a year. When I finally got my account back, I logged in (had no mesos or items as you can probably guess), and my buddy list was dead. It just felt so lonely knowing that the people who used to play with you are gone and you'll probably never get to talk to them again. So I left.

@ashleyattacked: It's ok, I'm a former Scanian playing Reboot now so I couldn't use that feature if I wanted too. Appreciate it though !

@akafaze: There's another site exactly like that right now. But I'll be banned if I name it.

The best days of Basilmarket when it was actually a trading site for MapleStory! The days when someone posted up a godly VIP weapon for auction and you buddy/whisper them in game to buy it!

Same, I must've been around here around 2010, maybe before that. I've learned a lot, but I've spent the most time here after it's decline (past three years), logging in nearly every day of the year.

2009/10 was definitely peak basilmarket, or at least chat island. i pretty much grew up here as well, i learned a lot of the most important lessons of my life through experiences i've had thanks to this site lol

remember that mod angramainyu who would literally ban you just for disagreeing with someone or like saying the word 'poop'

@lettucing: Basil was never a thing. It's always been the bastion of regressive humble bragging. Sleepywood was always the bestestever.

I, too, miss those days. Both Basil & Maple have really gone downhill, you're right.

@voidwreck: Not everyone has left.

I got my first 200 in 2008. My second in 2009.

I grew up on this game.

I agree with you. I'm in college and sometimes I get flashbacks to when I was in middle school and used to come home everyday from school and immediately log into Maple. Now, I come home everyday from college and study for tests/work on assignments. When I got hacked back in 2008, I quit completely and then came back in 2011 (during my first year in college). Then I played on and off until December of last year. I think now I can say that I quit for good and have no plans to come back to the game. I'm focused on school and improving my life, which means reducing my time playing video games. I realized that no matter how hard I would try to increase my damage in Maple, it would take a really long time unless I spent NX. That's why the 2007 and 2008 days were the best. I had so many online friends in Maple at the time that it felt like being in a family because we would always train together and hang out together. Nobody cared about damage. All we would care about is having fun adventuring together and spending time with each other. Good times indeed. As for Basil, I only started using it actively in 2011. That's when there were more interactive threads and mods were strict. I stopped using it so frequently simply because I got busier due to college. I wish those times would come back, but they never will. We had our fun with the game and that's that. Time to move on.
