Reminds me so much of the collector ship in Mass Effect 2..
I don't think VR is going to be dominating anything in our lifetimes. At best, it'll be a fun gimmicky thing to do.
Even today, people still have an obsession with the real rather than the imitation. Genuine craft beer. No auto-tuned voices. Public backlash against lab-grown meat. Same thing with VR. It isn't a question of the technology, because even if VR reaches the point where it can imitate life flawlessly, it'll still face people's inherent fear of the simulated.
