Vortex and its mechanics

Okay so i noticed this at TP with other day. been trying to talk about it with @bluebomber24 but he's a noob and refuses to make a wind archer. EVEN WHEN SCIENCEEEE is on the line.

So here's what i noticed. Thesis:
It is possible to hit for 24 lines of damage on up to 9 mobs with vortex (for a total of 58k%)

"24 lines? LUIGI YOU'RE A MADMAN. A GENIUS, ATTRACTIVE, ATHLETIC, PRO, COOL, STYLISH MADMAN!"
I know. I know. please ladies ( @airforce1 ) hold your applause.

we all know how splash damage works. inferno deals splash damage on 6 mobs within range of eachother. So what if each hit from vortex (9, 1 per mob) deals it's own splash damage for 230%? that's 9 hits, each being 2 lines. that's 18 lines of damage on top of the already 6 lines from vortex.

yes. yes i am beautiful simpleminded onlooker ( @ketchup11 ) but fear not. for I have capture screen shots demonstrating how i think this splash damage acts.

If you look closely you can see the massive stacked numbers on the bottom 2 lines of damage.

That;s right. I double tapped scroll lock. get on my level. Now if you'll notice i actually managed to 1hit KO a lot of those mobs. My damage is nowhere near enough to 1hit KO golems..UNLESSS I'm right. if this is true, vortex is by far the most OP mobbin move in history. (for sheer damage, not as a ksing move)

So...
If I spam press the vortex key it will do splash dmg multiple times, but if I press the key and hold it down it ill only do splash dmg 1 time, until I release the key and press again?

You can stop the splash damage after vortex does it once by holding the key down.
To activate splash multiple times, spam the vortex key.

a 500k range shouldn't be near enough to ohko. xD not without the help of broken vortex

Most of the new high level maps are ohko-able for your range. There are a few new dungeons I havn't looked at in detail though.

@twopointonefour I wouldn't call it decent. It's OP at things like v2, TP, any map you can't 1hit (which i'm betting in the future will be a lot of maps, but that's just me.)

@airforce1 I prefer the metro man picture because i love him in that movie. notice he winks at everyone.

Is there a way to reliably activate the splash damage as well as reliably prevent the splash damage from activating?

Also the splash delay is very weird. Fun thing to try is to cast vortex on a mob and immediately climb a rope. Stay there for however long you want(even longer than 5 seconds) and once you leave the rope and go back to where the mobs were, the splash damage will continue firing off.

What is happening is that if you are hitting 7 enemies, the initial splash will hit those 7 enemies and then they will spread the splash damage to each of each other. If other mobs were nearby and close enough, the splash will spread to them as well. I think the game has trouble calculating the splash sometimes since if you use vortex on a huge group of mobs(like in a gm event where they summon 5 million bodyguard bosses) you will crash.

edit: oops I misinterpreted the TC. Basically, yeah, he's right.

I never really payed that much attention to the splash since I 1 shot mobs at HoH. It's only "game breaking" at TP and maybe HoH with Kishin.

It's a decent mob move that was built to help players who don't one hit kill everything, it's also super glitchy cause the splash damage "stacks" just build up and fire off on mobs that weren't even part of the original mob series. I think it would be better off if the splash damage didn't stack up and just automatically fired off but thats just me.

@bowmushro0m: I meant the splash effect. It seems to be in groups there's always a delay between each splash burst, well at least that's what I observe.

@ryuushinou: I considered this after rujin brought it up. But i seem to have no trouble spamming it several times within a 5 second period.
I didn't even factor in triffling (and it's such a wild card of a skill that i would have serious trouble even attempting it.

what really matters that now i'm satisfied. Post RED MM's and BM's both slam wind archers in 1v1. but we have mobbing. we have game breaking mobbing.

it's essentially "what if we took pierce, made it stronger, and went ahead and gave it inferno properties...that are also stronger.

@bowmushro0m: As far as I'm concerned your understanding of the skill is correct (and I believe this is how JT has calculated it). Not sure what the 5 is though but I think it may play a part in the delay/CD between each splash burst. And yes that splash damage is ridiculous.

it's not being applied anywhere as far as i can tell. I cast vortex and i see the 6 lines of damage (+1 from hyper) on 9 mobs (+2 from hypers) and then i see what looks like 2 lines of no delay damage just gunning it's way through.

dude i guarantee you're thinking of burn damage xD and it doesn't work that way at all. If you could see a video, you would notice that after one cast there is no more damage being done.

Splash damage lasts 5 seconds for a total of 10 lines per mob. At least that is what I assumed. This is Spiral Vortex in the extractions:

What is the 5 seconds referring to if its not splash?
