@xylyls: Not exactly, so I just posted a story providing updates and asking people for input. I've received a lot of useful information already.

If necessary I'll uh... "upgrade" the story into a thread later on, but people appear to be focussing on stories more than threads atm.

@pavchka: Do you know how many bugs and glitches there are right now? The only thing that makes me laugh is that Basil had not posted one update since the site went live. Not helping with the questions people have, reasoning behind this, etc...

I agree with poster, if they dont change it back I quit as well

Basil's old engine was switched to the one used by MS2.tv. The old engine was so full of redundant code and holes that it didn't function well any more.

Basil as it is now it very much a work in progress. Things'll change, though I don't know what. I don't know if B's able to create a "classic version" that's running on the new engine. Basil Classic Shell, if you catch my drift. Personally I think it'll take a lot of time to get used to this (and I think I would run the Classic Version at least for the time being).

Also I'm not very happy with the not so covert advertising of what's melodramatically referred to with "the forbidden site" on here. Don't get me wrong, I don't want CC to disappear or whatever, but this "vulture picking at something that's not dead" behaviour is rubbing me the wrong way.

dam why they killed this website its had a very good look before, all they had to do is fixing some bugs thas all , like my old account a made in 2007 i cant logg on it anymore .

Same here, this new layout is terrible and very disorganized. I'm not being biased towards the old layout, but the old layout was way more organized and easy to navigate through. And I agree with the guy above me, out of all the things that Basil had to fix, they chose to fix the layout first, which was already fine to begin with.

This is so disorganised. I hate it. Usually when a website changes to improve, they make it easier to navigate, improves its looks and overall improves the site's looks and feels to make the website a better experience. But Basil did none of this.
They combined every single forum which just further points out that the site is dying and has no new threads.
It's also a giant disorganised mess. I mean, what is this? Who's ingenious idea was it to combine all the subforums into one giant forum. There's no order.
Alsooo. Who's idea was it to get the last comment in the post as the one shown in the Front page? Most confusing thing in the world.
The priorities are completely messed up too. Basil had a list of things to fix and improve but they chose the layout first which was completely fine and likeable. I'm pretty sure the skills and monsters are exactly the same and extremely outdated.
The new layout is so baddddd. It looks like a tweens tumblr page when most of the people still on basil range from the ages of 16-24. This might've been acceptable 8 years ago but now?
The great idea of putting screens and videos at the very top when only 1 picture every 2 days is posted was sooooooo smart and fantastic.

agreed with above. i know at least one site that actually lets you choose from several different skins, with new ones being added every so often.

Can we get an option between new layout and old layout?

@cxter: Look, I'm bummed out about it too, believe me. I've been visiting this site for almost 10 years now, even when I don't frequent it I enjoy dropping by just for that nostalgic feeling. The old layout was charming as hell, and it will be missed. But times change, and I'm willing to accept that.

I'm gonna be patient and wait this one out and see what comes of it, if it turns out to be a bust, then oh well. It was fun while it lasted right?

@assasin474: hey he just said it straight up. The Site is dull. It's so dull that he won't visit that site anymore. Of course there are going to be people that wont like this change but really? This pretty much the reason why no one visited the MS2 forum site.

@duzz Having an opinion is fine, making a thread titled "I don't want to visit this website anymore" is in fact whining. Instead of complaining you could at least be helping out Mr.B by pointing out bugs, how do you expect things to get better if your only input is "new site is dogsht". I get that you don't like it, but being childish about it isn't gonna bring the old one back.

Clearly after years of looking at the same layout he wanted to do something different, pretty sure anyone would feel the same in his position. Especially considering more than half the functions the site had available were pretty much obsolete, he obviously had other intentions for basil besides just being a forum.

Shoulda had a beta site... This site is complete garbage I agree with @caeg for this one.

@Caeg oh calm down. Its not unbearable. And he is still working on getting everything to work right. Until then don't jump to conclusions, its not like the old site was any better than this one

Quit whining it was bound to change eventually, complaining about it isn't going to make the process go any quicker... I swear majority of this site are acting like a bunch of fussy children that just got their favourite toy taken away, these are clearly just the testing waters for bigger and better things.

I mean, how else is he supposed to test the site out other than to release it and tough it out through the bugs?
