I just cut myself
I'm not sure why I thought about doing it, but I just felt compelled to try it. It wasn't much, just a few scratches on my arm to where you could see some blood but not much. I don't really know why, but it... it feels good. That feeling I have where I did it just feels... good. I can't really explain it. Is it bad that I feel this way? Have any of you done this and/or felt this? I need to know.
EDIT: Relieving could be a better way to describe it.
ALSO: My ign was named after a cool guy I met on a PS years ago, just saying.

@regardless: wow thats just sad
next time, try it on any or your major arteries, I heard it feels good
@Omegathorion: I love to strawman other people sentence. Why? Because it exactly shows them how stupid they sound when used at the extreme.
I guess Dr Phil didnt tell you these types of ppl never have friends to get that sympathy/attn so they go to the internet. Its sad, pathetic, and true. "reality isnt hard to see just tough to stare in the face." that's awesome haha
next time use a sheet of paper them papercuts feel so much better
You did it because you were in an emotional outburst. When one of your endorphin levels in your brain drops you start thinking bad thoughts and want to get release from it. It's the same as a drug abuser. Self-harm/mutilation does release endorphins when you cut, brand, burn yourself intentionally. This is mainly a response do a depletetion of your Reward system in your brain, specifically the chemical Dopamine. Dopamine=pleasure. Self harm increases dopamine levels, and so does drug abuse and sex. -Coming from a Mental Health student
so then some 1000+ calorie pretzel burger from Wendy's is super nutritional?
Probably not because that would also contain a lot of carbs, excess carbs is what gives people health issues, anything with a high glycemic index essentially turns into sugar in your body.

Just saying, I had a serious reality check. This was one of those things I never thought I'd do, and awhile after I did it I thought to myself, "oh my god, I just did that." I got like super freaked out and told my mom. I'm definantly NEVER going to do this again..
Watch out guys, we got another suicide on basil.
There have been others? o.o
Though I agree with you, youre still coming across like an arrogant tool.
Only arrogant on Basil. I have the self-awareness that I speak with an arrogant tone in all my posts on Basil [: I understand how they influence others too lol. Ridiculing little intelligently declined schmucks. Speaking like a "Know-It-All."
Kids on here cannot demonstrate effective logical reasoning. They have no mental tolerance at all. They are so easily influence due to a weak mental tolerance.
So fun. Yes, I find amusement ridiculing people on here. I admit it. You are entitled to your own judgments of me. You are not wrong that I give off an impression that I am arrogant, though.

Yea I 've done that long ago.
People always connect self harm to depression but that wasn't the case.
It was more or less out of curiosity and boredom.
I carefully cut a cross in my arm because I thought what was neat.
Didn't feel much pain, I can cut myself easily if want to, some people seem to have a psychological barrier stopping them from inflicting harm upon themselves.
Never done anything like that again though.
I still cut my fingers some times when there is loose skin and I don't want to rip it of, Its way less painful but that doesn't have much to do with cutting yourself.
lol only emos cut themselves
Lol, why would you involved open-mindedness in this situation. It is clearly morally wrong and it is also stupid to do such thing even "feels good"...

Please use logic next time.
This dude strawmans my sentence, then tells me to use logic.
*non-scientific response* it feels good because its its very bad, why do you think all the best tasting foods are awful on nutrition?
*scientific response* self-harm causes a rush of endorphins, giving your a drug-like high, i used to cut and once you start, it can go downhill in a very bad way, before you know it, you want more and more; so if you arent craving more yet, just stop now; well, stop regardless, it can be a real battle if you keep giving in.
Emoooooooooooooooo. No.. but seriously don't do that...
BBUnbalanced post was perfect. Self harm gives a high, personally I find a lot of it has to do with feeling like you deserve the pain so administering it brings satisfaction+endorphin release. Its soothing isnt it. Music helps alot, I rarely cut myself at this point but I can definitely relate to where your at.

i feel just like you sometimes
when i be really sad i feel that i really want to get scissors and cut my hair lol
and i agree with people above , all you need is to find something to keep you busy thats what i do
hunting monster in maple sometimes relax you , because you keep atk/hp/atk/hp it will make you busy and will forget what makes you sad for a little while
don't waste your time.
remember this next time you cut.
"happiness is down the road, not across the street"
I've been where you're at, and I know what it feels like to not completely know why you did it. Try to find something else to replace that though. As time goes on you'll have to go more and more for that relief-kinda feeling, and it can become a problem.
It's a bad habit and a difficult one to break.
For all of Basilmarket's self-proclaimed open-mindedness, everyone's being pretty bashy about this subject.
If you enjoy cutting yourself, power to you. Do what you like.
I went through (still sometimes go through) this. I'm 19 now and it's less frequent.
You get more and more sad/depressed/anxious over a long period of time. You are feeling so sad/depressed/anxious that it turns into stress and even in some cases rage. One small thing will set you off, and you think that cutting will somehow make you feel better: it is cathartic in nature.
However, ask yourself: why are you cutting? Is it because you heard that "it's what depressed people do" so you feel like you sort of have to do it, or you're not legitimately depressed? (That was my reason). Does it actually solve any of your problems?
Think about it. It doesn't solve your problems: it actually creates more problems.
Get rid of your stress in other ways. Draw. Go for a run. Take up an activity. Go out with friends/family. Even play online games! Just anything to relieve your stress and you'll find yourself feeling better. You won't "need" to cut anymore.
@danwoman: yeah i would do it if i had the chance, would be a good chance for me to be all nostalgic about it when i was in karate for like a year in the 1st grade -w-
its your teenage hormones saying its cool 2 do it
wont get into specifics on the science of this but yeh

I've been thinking about going back into karate. I haven't done it in around 3 1/2 years. Do you think that'd be a good idea?
So TS, did you cut yourself with a blade or with your own edge?

If we're thinking of the same "getting off" then I think you're wrong about that part..
Pour a bunch of salt into the cuts, that'll make it feel even better.
No no no no no! You're suppose to slit the THROAT of YOUR ENEMYS over a pentagram and make a sacrifice to our almighty lord and savior Satan!
I did too once, but then I put a band aid.
You better be careful with those edges OP.
It feels good because when you cause slight self harm your brain releases endorphins which cause pleasure... It's the same chemical reaction you get when you orgy or accomplish something great
That's really interesting...

Okay, I know this is basil, but i was really hoping for some serious replies...
Me and my friends use to play who can kick each others balls the most and still standing. We each take turns and it was fun. I really liked it.
I'm tempted to do it, but I won't because I'm a puusy.
try sticking it up ur ahs
feels 800% better.
Now I'm tempted to do it, but I won't because it's stupid.
Play paintball instead. Fun and you get the pleasant sharp pain at the same time.
