Whats the point of Hp pouch?

What could possibly possess someone to rely on this item when it will randomly not heal you for absolutely no reason? I don't understand. Why make something that at its core is supposed to be relied on so you don't die COMPLETELY unreliable?

my perm pet hp only fails me under one circumstance - i game crash in drill hall/HoH and when you first login, you can be hit without your client realizing it so you can't heal.

it works WONDERS for bosses that 1-1 like zak, i set my auto hp to about 2k hp[i'm 8k base hp+have mg, so nothing anything like ht/zak can do can kill me outright] and if i get 1-1'd my pet heals me to 2kish[i use the 1500hp pots] if i get 1-1'd again, my pet heals with absolutely no delay, so i can't die at bosses that only 1-1

Still doesn't block the concept of "not paying attention"

Let's say you make the threshold 75% (lol) and the same 10k hp. You get hit and have 7,602 hp left. Still good. Then you get hit again and have 3,357 hp and the auto heal glitched on you. At this point you're either got too overly reliant on it and die after the next hit or you pay attention and use a potion.

And I'm talking if you had the auto HP and it hasn't failed you until now. That's why you should ALWAYS have a pot hot key on standby, regardless of having both auto pot tiems with %hp and %mp healing. There are time where both failed on me and yet I'm still alive by doing it manually. So don't 100% rely on it
2 cases where it doesnt heal
1. When youre buffing
2. When you lag.

All other cases it helps lazy people like me pot. i havent died on any of my characters in ages. I also keep ~20 power elixers on a key just in case it fails
What you said is correct but I want to add a 3rd one to your list
3. if you use a potion when your pet wants to use a Potion. For example if you only have Auto HP Pouch and you insert a potion that recovers HP only, so you will still need to use MP Potions.

It also fails on other skills similiar to Flash Jump, like Double Jump etc. Auto Pot fails on skills like Bowman's Puppet too. I have tested it before, there should be more skills but I forgot.

@Zeronos & @Daresay
It fails when you use the jump button? I have to test that, I don't remember that. I think you actually meant double jump? I think it heals for regular Jump.

Like some people already said, even with Auto Pouch you still need to look at your HP that way you don't die. And of course you need a button with potions on it so you can press it manually. Auto Pouch saves you time from using potions and it increases your DPS.

Edit: when auto pouch was out the first time I didn't buy any. I heard from people how many times they died and how the Auto Pouch failed. My friend gifted me one on my Bishop and I liked it. And of course a Bishop compared to a Bowman or any other job with low HP is different when you look at the survivability. So that time I didn't know how much different it was on another job. My Bishop could easily take many hits and survive it before the Auto Pot uses a pot (even if it failed). A bowman died in 2 hits back then, if it failed a high chance to die.

After the perm pouches were out I bought them on my Explorers and I found out the reasons why it didn't use potions. It increases my awareness not just to rely on Auto HP entirely. That is why I got different potions on my keys to press it manually when it fails than the potions that I am using in the Auto Pouch. It is actually very easy to notice when Auto Pot fails at certain places, one of them are bosses that cast 1/1, I am pretty sure everyone has casted buffs or used potions when a 1/1 hit you. And if that happened you will notice it clearly that your Auto Pouch didn't use a potion.

So you just need to know what you are doing and you should be fine.

I wanted a pet... but realized I'm a DB and don't get hit anyways.

Hp pouch function relies on your internet connection too. The more your computer is lagging, the less chance the hp pouch will actually function in the event you need it to heal you.

"randomly not heal you "? my mp pouch has always healed me [use ginger ales with it = hp and mp healing.] O_o maybe it's just hp pouches lol.

I believe the pet HP pouch won't heal you if you attack and get hit at the same time. Only if you get hit, pause, wait for it to heal, and attack.
Anyways, only item pouch and meso magnet are the essentials, the rest...you guys are just being lazy

What @Underpaying said, is the best way to survive a 1/1. If it doesn't heal you all the time just set up the hp alarm higher, test it at kenta pq against pianus till you find the perfect spot for you.

It works when you don't have any other skills or attacks happening. It's queued up. If you're pressing a button continuously for attacking or another buff, it won't heal you.

I used to have one on my Hermit a very long time ago (few years). I think there might be about two scenarios when it doesn't heal you (the first one I'm sure of):

1. Flash Jumping. I actually reported this via a ticket and got some automated bullcrap response.... yes they've probably known about this issue for years, since I reported it years ago. Pretty much I think you can't use a potion while flash jumping, right during a certain part of the FJ. The pet equip probably can't get around this either. What makes it faulty is it doesn't check your HP more than once. As in, it checks for your HP going lower than your set threshold and will use a potion.... but it doesn't actually continuously check your HP! It just uses a potion on the event. To put it into computer engineering terms, it's like a D flip flop which only triggers on a rising edge event. What happens right at that event is the only thing that goes through and then it gets reset to a low signal immediately after, regardless of what it's actually at.

2. Picking up. I don't know, but I've never been able to use a potion while picking things up off the ground. Maybe the pet equip can get around this one.

If it mostly fails when you're using your double jump, the double jump is probably the culprit.

Think of it as people who rely on a calculator:

-You can solve math problems easier and yet completely hindered without it.
Which is why you're supposed to be able to do math on the calculator AND your head.

Same concept really. I mean you use the auto hp to pot and yet you have to still be alert when you see your HP drop at a dangerously so you can avoid dying. I mean, there are cases with not only lag or glitches don't let you heal but simply not paying attention to your hp.

Take this example: Let's say you have 10k hp and you set the threshold of 35% (when you reach 3.5k hp or less, the auto pot will work.) Then the enemy hits anywhere between 2.9k-3.6k. Then after a few hits, you get 3,513 hp left. since it's above the threshold, th auto pot won't activate. Then BAM! You het hit with 3,610 and you die

@Daresay:

The coding prevents pots being used while jumping.
So yea, next time run away without jumping. You could land right on top of another mob unless u can tank it.

I've had mine for well over a year, and it's only failed me once o-o Though, now I wish I could sell it, I don't even get hit anymore. Only thing I use is auto MP.

@Zeronos

I've never had it fail to heal me while I'm attacking. The jumping part might make sense though, seeing as it always happens when I'm trying to get past a mob. That's still ridiculous though, for it to conflict with jumping.

It doesnt heal when you jump or in the middle of attacking.
*edit: I could be wrong about the attacking part*

It works pretty well for me. <3 It stops working when you have to heal but you're picking up something with the pick up key. It conflicts with the function for some reason.
Do people still buy it anyway.......?

I rest my case.
I got a perm one a while ago because it ups my DPS, because MOST of the time it works perfectly. Just it stops working when I'm in the middle of a big pile of mobs for some reason.

@zeronos: Yeah, I'm squishy too at 10k HP. I STILL die to crap I shouldn't die to because it decides not to heal me when my bar flashes.

Because it keeps me alive. Cygnus bowmen use Double Shot 6k per hit.
I only have 9k HP.

Its not unrealiable for classes that are very squishy.
