The world outside of your bubble
In light of watching the murder of a young woman and her mother in Thailand on Basilmarket, I wanted to bring up the following.
Edit : I took it down. It's not appropriate even for the internet. PM me if you want to see it. It's a woman who gets beheaded alive on camera. She gets beheaded so quickly, that her eyes seem to shift around consciously to try to get a look at her murderer before she fades out.

I think that it is very fortunate for developed nations to have borders and good law enforcement to deter this kind of gang violence, but it's also unfortunate that the safety of being a citizen of a developed nation makes said citizens complacent.
We trivialize the issue of drugs and gangs through this media-fueled idiosyncrasy that causes us to think that "it isn't all that bad". Well folks. It is that bad.
-------------------------------------------------
It's interesting that a lot of people's initial reaction is to think that it's fake. For any video of murder. Probably because it's on a widely accessible network, and a lot of people would expect censorship.
Or maybe people are in denial that stuff like this actually happens. Who knows.

@Doutei:
What kind of long strawman slippery-slope rant was that? Were you beat up today or something?
Teenagers trying to be hard.
Nobody is saying that this is new, and nobody is saying that hunger and poverty isn't a bad thing. Nobody is saying that we should all go barren by selling our wombs/eggs for stem cell research.
I'll be lenient and give you a D+. I need your mom to see me after school so we could talk about your grades.
Gang violence and murder versus hunger and poverty in third world countries.
Few people dying over a long period of time vs people dying as often as it comes.
Next you'll be going on about how giving birth is overpopulating the world and that we should all go barren by selling our wombs/eggs for stem cell research.
If you want to get high on snuff vids be my guest, but don't go flaunting your philosophy as if it's a new world-wide issue.
The world runs off that type of dirty money, it's a necessary evil, whether you like it or not.
You have better luck attempting genocide against those who don't agree with you than to prance like a saint about how bad everything is.
Get real, and back to reality.

You have a transnational gangs class? Where did you go to school for that?
uc irvine. it was an easy GE and the professor was really chill.

thankfully my transnational gangs class already exposed me to these things so consider my bubble popped.

I mean there's not much really to say besides that sucks.

Hit me up with the video yo, I don't think I've seen it yet. Also, are there really people who don't think stuff like this happens occasionally?

@Kazno:
I don't think that any age is too young to discuss the repercussions of drug trafficking and gangs. The link posted on the thread is now a PG-13 news article and the only people who have access to the video are the ones who go out of their way to view it.
There is a world outside of our delicate society and it's not a bad thing to let people know. We teach about even more gruesome genocides, pillaging and sexual assaults conducted by armies in schools. History and worldly news should never be omitted to anybody.
@ehnogi:
I read your last quote, believe what you want but this is not the website to be talking about it.
@Kazno:
I think society needs to be aware of some of the horrible things that happen when people start to massively antagonize the police. Or when they become corrupt. Or when a black hand rises to power.
You read it in the history books, you read it on the news, but now you could see it on a video. It makes it that much more unforgettable to people who would otherwise feel safe with bad life choices.
@ehnogi
I'm 18 but okay. Simply don't like to watch sick crap like this, who the hell does?
@GlitterPumas:
@Kazno:
Because you guys are under the age of 16, I chose to omit the video link except by request.
If you feel that discussing the effects of gang violence isn't important to specific age groups, then I'm going to have to disagree. Did you know that gangs recruit people around your age?
@weredoggy:
It sure is. And it happens. It's real.
it doesn't matter what age you are; that stuff is horrible
if you want to have a discussion on mature topics that isn't something minors should know your priority should be seeking a forum that cater to people who aren't under the age of 16
Exactly what I was going to say.
if you want to have a discussion on mature topics that isn't something minors should know your priority should be seeking a forum that cater to people who aren't under the age of 16
@Spiritual2:
It's so that I don't get suspended for posting it in the thread.
@DragonBandit:
If you are under 18, you shouldn't. I probably shouldn't post it here. I'll take it down.
Didn't watch the video. All ready know it's that bad
