Do you think less of gamers who play on easy difficulties?

Whenever I play any game I always start off on the easiest setting. If the game has a reward for playing in higher difficulties (like Diablo does) I would play them after going through the easier ones, but if games offer no reward for playing on a harder difficulty I'll continue to play on the easiest one. Sure, if a game is too easy on the easy setting I'll go up one but for the majority I like it being easy. Recently I've been playing Torchlight on the easiest setting and one of my friends gave me crap about it. I just like a challenge only when I feel like it. Some games I'll play through on extremely hard difficulties for fun but not most of them.

Do you think it's acceptable for people to play the easiest setting on any game all of the time? Note, I'm not talking about games with multiplayer where an easier setting would make it easier for one person to beat another.

I usually go for Intermediate, unless it's not there, then I'll choose Easy mode to start with if I'm not familiar with the game.

I think less of people in general who game excessively, meaning 2 hours or more daily.

In online games, I prefer playing with people who've gained experience by working their way up from the easiest levels.

On the other hand, I hate idiots who LOLBOSSRUSH the hardest levels without any experience; they will almost always wipe the party.

I play on easy because I'm a wuss

Sometimes I like to play casually and not care. Other times, I like to feel like I accomplished something.

Most of the time, I like to screw around on easy though. I'm not going to look down upon people for playing on easy unless they begin to brag about finishing the game on easy.

I think less of all gaymers overall
they think vidja gaemz are a serious productive chore to the point of acquiring such title as gaymer

If I like petting my dog, does that make me a petter?
Answer: NO
Are you seriously telling me that by using a pony picture referencing a joke everyone in this thread should have caught onto immediately to show how ignorant the everyday plebs of basil really are any credibility I have is lost simply because I uploaded a pony image?

That kind of blind arrogance is to be expected of an average memespouter like you, I suppose. How about you return from whence you came before this back and forth between us gets too convoluted and we start discussing the fundamental distinctions and rules governing rhetorics and tropes.
again, you don't answer how in my original post I declared I was better than everyone else. I inferred you were a brony because it is logical to assume no one else uses "pony" pictures. With that, you telling 9gaggers and redditers to go is highly ironic. I parodied the "dolan pls" from the meme, not spouting "u teh mad bro", "le monkey face", so I don't see where you get off calling me "an average memespouter". you are cancer, how about you leave. thxs

@SaltyBlocks:

where am i trying to show that i'm better than anyone else. i pointed out it was ironic how you want reddit and 9gag to go when you posted a pony pic, in which case, bronies are equally as hated generally.

They can play on whatever difficulty they want. Just like how they can use cheats If they want (On games that aren't online, bothering other people.)

I usually start out on normal.
The exceptions would be I might do hard on a second playthrough or for a reward or for a game I'm very comfortable with(ex:Mario, Pokemon)
I try to avoid starting on easy, but I will if I think I'm really gonna suck and it's a game type I've never or hardly ever play.
Do you really want to go through this song and dance with me on basilmarket or are you just trying to show that you're better than most people in this thread while adhering to the general consensus of treating pony content as heresy?

I uploaded the second image to reiterate the fact that the average basilers are pretentious insecure dolts who in truth don't know anything about anything while innately belittling them by the simple use of a pony image.
No, unless they try to pass it off as being super-incredatasticly awesome at the game.

If playing something as generic and rehashed as a military FPS, maybe.
For other games with innovative styles of gameplay, not at all.

i always pick hard or extreme but not the hardest or normal! as a gamer myself i enjoy more games when i am having difficulties and i get rewarded by thinking harder or doing strategies.

Hard Difficulty for fighting games are fairly easy because the cpu is always predictable

OT: I don't think less because people have to start off somewhere, easy being the good for beginners obviously

I always start on Normal Mode. If I suck, I move to an easier mode. If I can finish the game on Normal Mode/find Normal Mode too easy, I move up to a more difficult mode.

Holy hell, caring about what level of difficulty someone plays at is like, literally the dumbest, most embarrassing thing I can conceive. Good luck with your social skills in 2k12 if you get butthurt over other people's difficulty settings.

EDIT: Btw, if your friends are just busting your balls then you deserve it for being such a wuss and taking the easy way out! My post is just directed at people who srs nerdrage over this.

Dimo, I would put a skirt on for you any day. Seriously.

As for anyone saying that it's because I find the higher difficulties more... difficult, that's not the case. I can easily play on higher difficulties it's just that I choose for games to be more fun than challenging. Take for instance Perfect Dark for the N64. I've put in easily over 200 hours on that game and 195 of them were on the easiest settings. I occasionally go up to higher difficulties to see what it's all about, and I can survive in them, but the added difficulty, for me, takes away from the overall experience.
Only gay people start with easiest setting.

Man up and take on hard difficulty. At least normal... to suggest that you're normal.
I wonder if you mentioned gay on purpose, most likely.

OT: I usually go for the normal difficulty just because I see as how it is intended to be played. However I will try out hard(+) if I'm looking for a challenge, or if I want to see what hard adds. If hard just adds more enemies + makes em' hit harder there is no point.

As a student of game design, I've been seeing my fellow classmates go through tons of playtesting data to calibrate their games just right. It takes a lot of time and effort for them to balance games so that they provide the most fun for the widest possible audience, and when there are difficulty options, that becomes "normal." If "normal" mode seems to be too hard, then it's probably because the designers intended for it to be that way, because they have tons of data from other people who've playtested it and gave their own feedback. So while I don't exactly look down on people who play on easier modes, I do think it's goes against the designer's vision of what the game was supposed to be.

Unless the game's system actually integrates difficulty into its gameplay, like deleveling in The World Ends With You.

Not really, if a player chooses an easier difficulty and they're enjoying themselves, why judge them?
DMC3 kicked my butt silly, but I managed to get through it on normal without purchasing/collecting life and power-ups..
