I'm currently reading Pilgrim's Progress. and am enjoying it. Some non-religious books I'd recommend: Brave New World, Murder on the Orient Express, The Arabian Nights, Lolita (great literary work, disturbing plot), Catcher in the Rye
If you like fantasy The Name of the Wind is absolutely amazing; its a must-read The Way of Kings is also awesome, but it seems a bit weird and hard to get into in the beginning. However, it just continually picks up momentum throughout the book and in the next book of the series too until it's good enough to become my second favorite series (after The Name of the Wind/The Kingkiller Chronicles).
