Bethesda E3 thoughts
So Bethesda got to kick off the awkward-on-stage fest known as E3 tonight. It just finished (he's wrapping it up now) and am curious what the other [i]lovely[/i] people here on basil think about what they showcased. The games they showed + my quick thoughts:
[*]Doom 4 - Went back to the roots of how Doom's gameplay originally was. I was hoping for a terrifying slaughterfest but to me it looked like a very flashy hell-themed Quake/Unreal Tournament. I wish they'd ram up the pace further and make the game scarier than what they showed us. I'll definitely buy it though. Looks good... but not great.
[*]Battlecry - Probably just me but I can't help but shake a TF2 feel off my shoulders. Looks considerably slower too. I don't think I'm even going to remember the game title after I finish typing this thread.
[*]Dishonored 2 - Just a CG trailer, not much you can really say outside of it looking a lot like Bioshock: Infinite artstyle wise. Didn't play the first game though.
[*]Elder Scrolls Legends - A free 2 play strategy card game for mobile. Not my thing the least bit. Pass.
[*]Fallout Shelter - A free 2 play mobile game to manage your own vault + community with not a single microtransaction to ruin the game for you? Looks EFFING AWESOME! Btw it's out now in the app stores for iOS and Android (or will be in the next few minutes). I'm definitely downloading this as soon as I fix my stupid phone.
[*]Fallout 4 - Looks good so far. Mostly just showcased boatloads of customizability and unique features. Outside of making your own settlements, nothing else really stood out as new and inventive for the series. But we'll see as things continue on. Btw release date is in November of this year. Definitely picking this up.
And is it just me, or did Todd (or whatever his name was) turn into a total ass as soon as he started talking about the collectors edition and phone app? Saying the F word on stage at E3 may be a bit unprofessional, but then saying all 2nd screens ever were just stupid gimmicks and then saying that his app isn't is pretty damn cocky. Nintendo made it "work" way before that guy did.

@Kazzooey: To each his own, I have no dust collected because I don't own Xbone or PS4 since there is zero games I am interested in outside of Dragon Age. But I am a Bestheda fanboy and pc mods and Fallout 3 for free is checkmate for my wallet.

Yea that was a plus. For the first time Microsoft started doing good things for the gaming industry. But I won't be dusting off my Xbox until something I like comes out (haven't touched it since Titanfail) lol I'm not kidding you about the dust part.

I love Bethesda. Oblivion, Fallout 3 and New Vegas, Evil Within, Skyrim, they're all so much better than everything else out there. Cannot wait for their conference. Been hyped since I read about it months ago.
PS: Dishonored 2 looks nothing like Bioshock Infinity. The only similarity is by using the steam punk genre...which neither game created. Bioshock Infinity was horrible, imo. It thought it was so smart and clever when it's rly just a rehash and copying of many other string theory based philosphies. The game was a total meh...but fun enough that I did finish it three times.
As soom as they announced fallout 4 collectors edition i was refreshing amazons page to pre order it.
Long story short It's been done.

seriously if you havent played the first one, do yourself a favour and get it! its like 5$ sometimes on steam!
I really like the idea of 2 playable characters, even more so that its Corvo, and EMILY. clearly Corvo took good care of her after the dishonoured 1 ended!
battle cry is just Bethesda trying to get in on the whole MOBA scene, im not even a little interested.
I've literally never played any fallout game, even though i own fallout new vegas and fallout 3(i think). Fallout 4 does look really cool though!
Im gonna give fallout shelter a shot, because it looks like it COULD be fun
never played doom, still not really all that interested.
I think Fallout 4 will be much better on PC, just with all the customization for build ur own base, and what seems like "point and interact" things will handle better with a KB+M.
but I'll have to grab a controller for dishonoured, i just cant see it being fluid with a KB+M

Dishonored 2 looks good. I remember hearing that it was "accidentally" leaked
Dishonored 2: Female lead pisses off many manbabies therefore I will buy the most expensive version they will release.
