Exactly. It blows me away when writers create realistic sci-fi, only to have numerous unrealistic details incorporated into their work. I have no expectations for perfection, but leaving plot-convenient elements unaddressed is poor writing; I don't know about Japan, but these are fundamental principles we learn in school. It feels so half-assed, like they didn't even bother doing research before drafting up the story.
Don't get me wrong, I don't hate ZnT and I do plan on following it until the end, I just don't see it as AOTS at the rate it's progressing.
The flaw I saw was that, when they were investigating the sparks flying over shinjuku, they never took a bother to link that high school students were also visiting at the time, and in the video uploaded by Sphinx it shows that the alleged terrorists were two teens.
mmm I see what you mean, but when it comes to terrorism, government, and something like Tor, I don't think there's anyway to actually be completely untraceable or to actually erase one's own identity unless one has the resources to make those things happen. So I think watanabe did the best he could to make it as realistic because let's face it, in today's world no one is untraceable and one can not simply just erase his/her whole identity in the government database.
@Yumtoast: mmm I see what you mean, but when it comes to terrorism, government, and something like Tor, I don't think there's anyway to actually be completely untraceable or to actually erase one's own identity unless one has the resources to make those things happen. @djmaxaaron: I'm saying that because Zankyou no Terror is a sci-fi based on our universe's rules and common sense, it should obey those laws. I would have no problem accepting the anime if it was set in an alternate universe (e.g. Sidonia no Kishi, Index, etc) where authors can use the "This doesn't take place on Earth!" card, But having a teenager completely erase his identity from a government database while also committing numerous crimes on camera without leaving traceable evidence disregards our world's common sense.
Also: "The perpetrators used Tor, so they are completely untraceable."

@Yumtoast: While I do agree about the plutonium, it gives off a different vibe than all the other shows. But if it weren't for the two stealing the plutonium I don't think the story could even progress further. And you can basically break apart and deconstruct any anime so I don't get it. Are you saying this type of story is used too much, like the suicidal girl getting bullied?
Only one person has mentioned zankyou no terror. wow
I watched the first 3 or 4 episodes, but I'm having trouble understanding the hype.
It's a pair of teenagers committing terrorist attacks with possibly a lame ulterior motive. And despite leaving so much evidence behind, they have yet to be apprehended by the multiple police departments and investigation units after them. Then you have this girl with social anxiety who knows the identities of these perpetrators, yet doesn't report them to the authorities because she's afraid of dying -- even though she's practically suicidal.
I'm fully aware that the main characters are teenagers for the sake of self-inserting and relation, but kids stealing plutonium from a guarded lab is a tough pill to swallow.
yes zaknyou no terror is very good as well! <3
@kcwt:
Oh, actually that was my mistake. Got Akame ga Kill mixed up with Tokyo ESP.
I haven't watched Akame ga Kill yet, read the manga though. I heard it skipped a lot and just started somewhere in the middle of the story.
I don't know where you heard that from but so far it's remained 100% faithful to the manga. White Fox did a great job with the manga-to-anime adaptation.
I personally like Sabagebu! a lot. It's a pretty fun anime.
No Game No Life <3
@TheMinimalist
Idk. I haven't read the manga yet. But the first episode and the progression up til now makes sense. The plot flows from one thing to another just fine.
IDK if it has skipped anything or not.
Those 3 are all good anime's but they were from the spring season. OP asked about favorite anime's this season (summer)
Technically, Irregular at Magic High School is both spring and summer, since it's still on-going.
But, if you want a series that was just released a month or two ago.....then Akame ga Kill is probably the best anime this summer.
Why hasn't anyone mentioned No Game No Life?.......That's like...one of the best anime releases in the 21st century. I hope it gets a S2.
Log Horizon S1 was really good. S2 will be released this fall/winter. (Log Horizon is basically a MUCH MUCH MUCH MUUUUCH better version that SAO. SAO is like 1/10. Log Horizon 10/10)
The Irregular at Magic High School is a pretty good anime (still ongoing).
The Irregular at Magic High School is a really good anime, also.
1. No Game No Life is like 1337/10
2. Log Horizon is 10/10
3. The Irregular at Magic High School is 10/10
@Darkness129:
I'm not too sure but from some other sites I've read they said it was going to be a 12 episode season, but I'm hoping I'm wrong and things will slow down. I think I would probably enjoy it more when it comes out on dvd so I can watch it uncensored.
Zankyou no Terror is really interesting so far, almost like death note in the anti-hero sense. I should have waited for it to finish airing too but I already started watching it and I don't have the willpower to stop lol.
At first I wasn't too sure about Aldnoah, thinking it was just another mech anime but after watching a few more episodes its more than that. The story is the main focus and it just happens to in a setting with mechs. Nothing like teenager finds OP mech suit and beats everybody.
Actually Tokyo Ghoul was a bit of a disappointment for me; they rushed it too much. From the opening it seems like they're going to put 70+ chapters of the manga into 12 episodes.
My favorite anime's this season is definitely Zankyou no Terror and Aldnoah.Zero.
Tokyo Ghoul is rushing wayy too much. Correct me if I'm wrong but, they haven't confirmed if it was going to be a 12 episode show. I'm just hoping they use the same OP throughout the possible 24 episodes.
They might just be switching around some stuff. I'm still enjoying it though. Oh well.
It's definitely a toss up between Tokyo Ghoul and Aldnoah.
I've heard Zankyou no Terror was amazing, but I'm waiting for it to finish so I can stream it all in one go.

Zankyou no Terror!
I can already see Tokyo Ghoul's anime falling down the ratings already
I was never really a SAO person.
I really like Akame ga Kiru and Tokyo Ghoul though. I like the manga version of Tokyo ESP, not the anime much =-=
I have some friends that like Rail Wars, but the story just looks weird. I only really like the character designs.
OMG GUYS WAT ABOUT FREE! SEASON TWO jklol
Barakamon !
Naru is wonderful.
nyan neko sugar girls tbh
Only one person has mentioned zankyou no terror. wow
nozaaaaaakiiiiii-kuuuuuuuuuunnnnnnnnnnn
and barakamon
Depending on how everything ends up, AOTS could be either Zankyou no Terror, Barakamon or Aldnoah Zero.
Sailor Moon!
It's either Barakamon or Nozaki-kun. Certainly not dreck like AgK, Tokyo Ghoul, or SAO.
I'm totally ok with smth like Hanayamata or Blue Spring being AOTS too (I'm not watching them) but damn if it's anything else. Even Sabagebu if ppl wanna put it above Nozaki.
yosakoi-bu with yuri pandering
calligraphy with fujoshi pandering
shoujo manga with otaku pandering
I was thoroughly surprised with Tokyo Ghoul, Shirogane no Ishi is just so-so, and I love Sengoku Basara just cuz.
use punctuation ma'm
this was just HORRID to read
Nozaki or IS clone mach 3.
Aldnoah is crap and I'll fight anyone who says otherwise.
I second Tokyo Ghoul.
