I met a girl at the beginning of the year in my class.
We just started to talk and stuff with other classmates around me.
Then we started to talk more and more later on.
But, now it's just meh.
You just drink and then it just happens...obviously.

Usually if I'm talking to someone I don't know that well, it's either because I'm doing school work with them, spending time with a mutual friend in a group, or I'm working with new co-workers I haven't met or gotten to know well yet. In all cases, there's obvious ways to start discussions. I don't really just talk to people out of the blue

If I have a reason to talk, I'll use that reason. If I don't, then I won't talk. Why would I chat up someone for no reason?

...I usually walk up casually, start a little small talk about what they seem to be doing, branch into a simple introduction, and make a tasteful joke. Minor conversation ensues for a bit, and if he's my type, then I may give him my number. It's not exactly rocket science... There's some subtlety in it, but it's more of an act of showing a little pinch of your persona and seeing if they bite.
