You can bring a technology to the past
You are a time traveler who is going to travel to a period of time and you can bring one modern technology. Where would you go, what would you bring, etc.
I would go back in time to when the Mongols were about to invade Russia, then give modern firearms to Russia so they can prevent the Mongol invasion of Europe.

I would bring an iPhone5 to Alexander Graham Bell when the telephone was first invented in 1876.

Teach them how-to use it
I'd give Euler and his mathematician friends Mathematica and teach them to use it. When you give some of the brighest mathematical minds a tool that will save them a huge load of computational work, imagine what kind of advances they can make with their ingenuity.
I would bring a camcorder to when they first created the camera.
I would take a time machine back to a random point in time and give it to a random person and teach them how to use it so they can travel to another point in time and repeat process.
